Built this one a few years ago to help fund my annual trip to NNL East.

What a bear to lower. I do plan to do another one similar for myself in the future , , but with more mods. :D

If you think those fades are hard.... try doing it on the INSIDE of the body....

1/24th vintage Slotcar body from 1967. Scared the heck out of me to shoot lacquer on it because it was worth way more than I charged to paint it!

Beautiful job on your Plymouth- nice to see a traditional custom done up without all the cliches representative of the era. Also, those Forward Look cars look great with all the gingerbread stripped from their flanks. Good show.

I don't know what happened to my post, I know I did one here, but wow, I really like this one. It would have broke my heart to see this one go. Simply georgious. Maybe it could be an "after" shot of the time capsule (LOL). So how hard was it to lower? :D

Thanks guys. I really didn't have much of a problem seeing it go as it was built for the purpose and I didn't get attached to it knowing I have 3 more so I can clone it any time. But like I said, mine will be even better than this one.

The problem lowering this kit is that it's done so much lile the 1/1. BUT the parts are thicker. I had to dremmel out the rear wheelhouses and transmission hump until they were paper thin to clear the tires and drive shaft and the front inner fenders were similar.

You can't tell in this pic but I didn't find out the clearance problems until it was 3/4 built. I also had to bevel the back edge of the crossmember behind the gas tank to fit under the rear pan.

Yea, builds like that can get frustrating. I tend to take little short cuts on some things that no one would notice. I am probibly the only one, but a few of my cars don't have rear wheel wells. Worse still, back in the 80's I got a bad rap once I showed how I lowered a car so low was by chopping the top of the tire off! I recently had to do that again just to get a good stance on this Demon. Best part is, no one figures it out till I tell them! :)

Great job on that "Winfield" fade job, they are always appreciated, even now, 40 plus years after the originals were done.
