Wow... I can remember when the streets of NYC were CRAWLING with Checkers! If you see one now it's at a show.

WOW that looks super Alan the color is perfect . i also have the same sunstar 1/18 checker and i altered it my way.lol altho it still a cab. i will post more of it at a later time.again super great job on yours.

Thanks guys.........Jersey, I should have know you'd do a wrecked one!!! I love it!!! Still amazes me how you get these diecasts to bend up so realistically.

Love those cars! You could not kill them they were built like a tank! 
Both cab companies used them here when I was a kid. My Uncle drove cab on and off over the years.
Wife brought our first kid home in one.(I was away with Uncle Sam)
One took me from the train station to the induction center in Chicago. Actually 8 of us, Gypsy cab driver, drove like a wild man!
There were several here locally that were private owned and were really nice cars.(models befor the DOT bumpers)
One even had a raised roof and a wheel chair ramp! Saw that one taking it's last ride on a rollback about a year ago.

Great looking car !
According to Hemmings Classic Car Checker produced 20,000 cars from 1922 -1982 .
I would have thought they had made 10 times that many of just the Marathon .
