They don't, and have a much stricter coupon policy than say, Michael's.

That probably has something to do with the abacuses they are running the inventory control program through...They have to be the only major retailer in existence that doesn't have some form of scanning register/computerized inventory.

It's a family bonding experience!!  Although if you just blew up your car, there might be better things to spend your money on than models...just sayin' ;)

Just stopped by my local Michael's and they have done another re-set, or at least added a few new kits, mostly Revell or Monogram kits in the "Dream Rides" packaging. "New" kits I saw were:

1/24 '71 GTX

1/24 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C (the wire wheels version)

1/24 '64-1/2 Mustang Convertible

1/25 Dodge Ram VTS pickup

1/25 '99 Mustang Cobra

1/25 Dodge Viper R/T10

1/25 Ford Aeromax, SnapTite

1/25 AMT '72 GTO

I rarely go to Michaels as they usually have very little to offer as far as kits & paints go, however my Hobby Lobby that is a 1/2 mile away has a good selection of kits & paints and supplies and I use the 40% off coupon often.

Just saw the Revell Jeep Rubicon and MPC WWII Jeep kits were newly added to the shelves at Michaels.

Jeff, Michaels may have models where you are in Canada . The Michaels near me has had the same set up I KNOW FOR A FACT for the last eight years . About the only thing I ever buy from them anymore is some Foam Core and paint

The Michael's near me does have models, however it's a fairly small selection of the more "popular" models that don't really interest me much. I'll occasionally go there with the coupon if I need a kit for kitbashing.

My local Michaels has kits, but never the very latest.  Even with their 50% or 40% off coupons, I'm better off buying my kits at shows or club meetings.  I realize a lot of guys don't have these options, so they'll buy kits.

I do print out the coupon and check out Michaels occasionally. I did buy the new Mustang convertible snapper there with the coupon, which made it $10 and worth it to me.  Other times, I'll use the coupon to buy paint (Testors Dullcote or flat black) or Zap-A-Gap glue rather than waste it.  There have also been times I don't need anything and I see someone in the store with a big item or a basket full of stuff and I'll give them the coupon.

Oh yeah, rub it in for us outside the US, even with the low rate of the USD vs the Euro the American kits remain expensive.

And shipping costs when buying in the US also has gone through the roof.

Oh well...glad Revell Germany is reboxing some US kits...

I wish I could get some more RoG kits here without ordering as well. There's pros and cons on both sides of pond certainly.

I know I'll be going to Mike's tomorrow with the 50% as well hopefully something catches my eye.

Over the weekend, I posted a brief comment on Michael's Facebook page about how much I enjoy shopping there, but that I would just like to see more and newer kits for sale. They followed up with a very non-commitally worded response about passing on my request to the appropriate parties. Hey, it was worth a shot right?

Maybe if the members here were to also post to their facebook page, they might take a bit more notice?

Just FYI, all Michael's stores are not equal, nor do they all carry the same volume of items. IIRC, there are A-, B-, and C-level stores, with A-level stores carrying the most product, and C-level the least amount. I've been in a C-level store and was surprised to see maybe 15 model kits total, while the A-level stores I usually shop at have closer to 75-80.

How can you tell what level a store is, besides of course by looking at the kit selection?

I know the one in my area has more than only 15 kits.

But as for the emessage idea.

It would be a  better one if it were actually Email.

As some one else stated somewhere on the board,

"Not everyone has been Assimilated into the faceBORG!!!"

I have not,. and never Will be!!

I'm not sure if you can find that out publicly. I think Chris Batson worked/works there and he mentioned it a few years ago.
