Yes folks, we have a winner! :) I said it was "Accurately Scaled"! I didn't see anywhere on the box where it identified it as being 1:32 scale, but in looking at the parts it sure looked to me to be right in that vacinity. I'm not really a fan of Ford products, but the styling of the Mark II and the car's story caught my attention a long time ago. As I recall, it was the last car primarily designed by the legendary Gordon Buehrig. It retailed at roughly $12,000 when a new Rolls Royce was still under $10K.

Go for it, Eric...

I haven't had time to go through anything! I've been reseeding some burned rangeland and working late. I'll do my best to get something tonight.

Okay, okay.

Here is the part. There are 3 different kits I know of with this part. All the same car - basically, the same kit, just different boxes.

It looks like a remote cooler of some kind . . . the bolt on flange is kind of odd . . .

Maybe a gas tank from a drag car or Pro Street kit?

Sure looks just like what was on the bottom end of my VW Bug. Even has the correct number of bolts  Porsche maybe? Looking at the sprue, it might be a Japanese manufacturer.

Not a gas tank, not a Porsche, and not a Corvair.

DEFINITELY not a Corvair! I'm familiar with just about every Corvair kit ever produced (that's not too hard, considering the low number of them!). :D

It looks like a very good casting with no flashing , and it appears to be molded in a dark gray plastic . Is it a Tamiya kit ?

The Shalako was VW, Porsche, or Corvair powered. This is a stumper. Fiat Abarth?

No Shalako. Not a Tamiya kit. Japan made, though. Not a Fiat.

 Well that's it, just embarras me thoroughly...while you're at it maybe you could come over, give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice over it? That is if you aren't busy of course?

(i'm just kidding here...I was taking a shot in the dark just because someone else said VW. :D )

Sorry Jacen... No offense intended... ;)

It looks like a non-top level brand-- Otaki, Doyusha, Nichimo, etc., but I still get an air cooled vibe from it, too. Hmmm, not a Trabant part...
