Revell/Monogram 1/25 '29 Ford Rat Rod 3'n1?
Posted 20 July 2012 - 12:24 AM
Anyone bought/built this kit before?
It's a 3 'n 1 Model T Hot Rod kit - comes with multiple engines, rims, etc.
I want it because it's a Pick-up body - with rails designed for pick-ups.
So - has anyone bought this kit, found any issues, and moreover, has anyone purchased from Modelroundup outside of the US?

No idea about Model Roundup, but I'm sure somebody else can chime in with that info.

Same thing - but re-toolled.
It's half the price.
I guess because it's an "older" kit it's worth more.. haha.
EDIT: Yeah the kit Austin just posted the link to.
Bit weird huh? Same thing... 14 bucks less?

I haven't ordered from Model Roundup in years, but I know Rob Hall does and I'm sure a few others here do, too. They are a stand up company, I don't recall ever hearing about problems ordering from them, and I wouldn't expect international shipping to be an issue at all.

The 29 Rat Rod is a Gold mine of Kit Bashing Parts, and I have also Built the Closed Cab Pickup from the kit with aftermarket detail added. My verdict is that it is a Great Kit!
I have bought several kits from Model Round up, and they are a good Company to deal with!

Buy several, you'll like it!

Anyone know anywhere in OZ I can grab it? haha...
30 bucks shipping is not appealing - especially when on a budget.
Those rods look really good.
The only issue I am facing is the Square shape of the Bucket I have never been a big fan of and I'm wondering how hard it';d be to mix a Chevy AK Cab that's been Chopped into the mix?

Mine didn't have "multiple engines", but it did have multiple accessory options for the engine, like the carbs and exhaust. Not sure if you're referring to multiple full engines or just the options.
As others have mentioned, it's probably better to buy the version of this kit that just came out since its common and a lot cheaper than the older version.
Hope this somehow helped

It is a very good kit. I have several in my stash.

Luke at Early Models Kits has one on his webshop.
$37 for the kit but postage will be real rather than stupid and you can rely on Luke to get it to you.
Or, get it from him through Evil-bay and pay less.
Or, Frontline Hobbies also has one (where exactly are you up there North of the border? close enough to drive to get it?). I've not bought kits from them but they post paint quickly.

These days I mainly deal with Plastic models or Model Express. its never economic to get just one kit shipped though. Getting three kits for example isn't three times dearer. its all to do with size and
weight of the package and since the kits weigh very little adding extra kits to the box will only add a few $ to the cost.

When I shop online, I usually go with JimnOhio. He has a decent selection, but his prices are very good. Have been buying from him for more than a year with no problems. Hope this helps.

I have two Hemi long blocks and two 440 long blocks, and 1 351 long block, 1 302 long block, 1350 long block, and one 427 long block.
And a few rocker covers, some carbies, and a heap of air cleaners, (Just no trumpets.. I'll just make them.)
So engine options aren't really an issue for me... lol.
Want it because A: It's a hot rod. and B: because it's a pickup.
