I did the '68 and added my own vinyl top, it's a lot easier and better if it's already in place so I will not mind having this kit with the top molded in place...

The "chopped roof" ProModeler body was replaced by Revell right after I bought it, so that's no longer an issue.   This kit will most likely be built as a street machine utilizing the kit's 440, but with different wheels and tires.

What I'm hoping to find out here is whether this kit has any other quirks, as well as ways to fix them.  For instance, I've heard that if you glue the rear axle exactly where the instructions tell you to, the rear wheels won't be centered correctly.   Seems like you'd still want to mount the axle on the designated space, so what is the fix for this?

Please list any other issues you encountered while building this kit as well as the techniques you used to resolve them.

The stance, particularly the front, is too high. You'll need to lower it. The rear centering you mention is true, but, it's actually not that bad. You'll have to take into consideration what wheel/tyre combination you'll be using. I'd suggest mocking everything up first, before making any permanent adjustments. The hood may need adjustment too. Make sure the grill is in, when mocking up, to ensure a more accurate fit/line-up. Take into consideration paint layers too.

I don't recall hearing/reading about the nose being too high, but you can always cut off the "spindle" stubs, are reattach them a bit higher up to lower the front end a tad.

The nose, technically, isn't high. That's not the problem. The problem, is as you've mentioned, the spindles being too tall. They need a mm or 2 cut off, to give it a better over-all stance.
