I built a couple years ago, it goes together well with no surprises. Somewhat simplified for the scale but loads of possibilities for detailing. Certainly BIG. Don't forget the pics when you get going.

Hi guys, I was at my lhs yesterday and there they sat on the shelf. The guy there said that they have had them for at least a week. One of these is not in my budget right now but maybe in a couple of weeks.

Someone mentioned in another thread mentioned this kit was already discontinued, and Tower Hobbies' 'site states the same thing...get yours while you can.

Well it is an SSP release, which means they are limited to X number of kits, just what that X number is, is anyone's guess.

I guess all X of them have been made and shipped out, then. :D

Scott, does Revell (Hobbico?) still take pre-orders(?) from hobby shops for the SSP kits, then decide if and/or how many to produce?

If they do, I have never been asked how many I wanted. I think maybe since they started the Preferred Partners program where shops signed up to that get new releases earlier, that maybe they don't do it anymore. Basically now we have a choice of Selection A, or Selection B (selection B is just more quantity of kits from selection A), and they lay out what kits we get. There have been times when I question the quantities, giving us like 3 of something that is going to sit on the shelf and collect dust, but only one or two of something that flies off the shelf. Would be cool for us that are Preferred Partners to be able to cherry pick the number of each kit we get....but I can also see it from their point of view as well.

Good example is the upcoming Sept. releases with the '50 Olds kit. I only get the selection A, which means I am getting 3 of the Olds kits in the package......but I so far have 6 kits pre-ordered from customers. I can opt for selection B, which would give me 6 of the Olds (I think), problem is, it would also give me 4 Vipers (would be lucky to sell 2), 4 Cobras (meh....probably would sell 4 over time), 6 Foose Firebirds (likely would sell that many...probably take a month or more though), 4 Daytonas (mmmm, again, maybe 2), and 6 UH-34 Helicopters (would do well to sell more than 1 of those). As it is, the selection A gives me half those numbers which is manageable if you don't want alot of product sitting on shelves for months collecting dust. However if we had the choice to cherry pick the kits, make it so we have to buy the same number of kits....but we can choose the quantity of each....I would gladly give up all but one of the Helos, and put the balance onto the Olds, and drop the Vipers in half, and add to the Foose Firebirds.
