The battery pack detail is a little shallow and flat on the model frame part.
Research of images of the prototype on-line show images of parallel battery packs on both sides of the frame just forward of the rear wheel.


This is roughly blocked in which I'll wire up later


There was something tubular running horizontal in this area on the prototype. I visually estimated then glued stretched sprue to replicate this

I've been following your build and using it as a guide for my own Pod underconstruction. I'm mostly curious as to the battery area. I cannot for the life of me find any GOOD reference pics of this area. Where did you find them, if I may ask?

Thanks for following the build, Dave! I'm painting now and almost finished. Been taking step by step pics at the request of a member on another site. As soon as these are organized I'll post them. As for ref pics of the 1/1, I plugged in every combination of Bat Pod I can think of into websearch engines and found them. Looks like you tried a few more of those "bat pod" combinations than I did when I was googling pics of this. Your pic there is by far the best and clearest shot I've seen of the battery area. I'll get to work scratching my own interpretation and hopefully I'll be into paint before long on this one. What sheen of black are you going with? To me it looks like a good match for Tamiya Matt Black, I'm thinking for the chassis. Thanx for the reference pic, it helps immensley

I was happy to find that pack of pictures as well. If you change the number of the images you can see the whole series there. There are 12 shots total.

I base coated with a flat black primer then brushed on Future on the frame, brushed Future w/ a drop of Tamiya clear green in random places, and Future w/ drop of Gunze clear orange in other random places. I wanted to try to get scale depth and sheen variances in the same matte black finish.

The hoses and wires were painted differently to make them stand out as a different material too

On the 1/1 prototype this vehicle is basically matte black.
Matte black engine, matte black frame, matte black radiator, matte black handle bars, matte black front fork, matte black knee rests and support arms, . . . matte black, I think you get the idea.

Looks fine in 1/1 but on a scale model and especially at 1/25, you have to force and direct visual effect. My try at this is hand painted with hobby acrylics and Future.






Thinned Future with alcohol and a couple drops of dish soap was brushed on the frame, fork, radiator, and random places.

Added to the Future in random places was a drop of Tamiya clear green and in another area I added a drop of Gunze clear orange. This achieved a very subtle variation in the black

Batman keeps the gear clean, tidy and squared away. I had to add a little wear and grime to mine, just a little




The hoses and battery wire boots were painted flat black/gray then a gentle wash of dirty brown.





A dirty tan/brown wash was brushed into cracks and around details.


This got a little too red brown than what I wanted so I had to go back in with a semi gloss black wash









I think it looks "used" while still looking "Dark".

I'll stop there and start detail painting the disc brakes and calipers and other stuff

I bought an applicator bottle full of dry graphite lube for the locks and tumblers at the house several years ago.
A few parts need a brighter metallic finish and for this I used the graphite.

I have facial makeup applicators somewhere stashed but I couldn't find them.



The applicator was made by sticking a piece of self adhesive neoprene tape onto the end of a wooden craft stick. It was dabbed into a small pile of graphite poured directly out of the bottle


The graphite was rubbed onto the part surfaces where it is suppose to be that sort of titanium finish.




(that tiny little scratched detail part located at the top of the right hand grip broke off somewhere so I'm making a new one now)

Seriously, though- that looks fantastic! Are you planning on doing the Tumbler with the same attention to detail?

I'm not sure if it's out yet or not (it's been delayed at least once from what I've heard)- I just know I'm chomping at the bit for that one to come out!

I bought this when it came out but it is outside my wheelhouse and I have been hesitant to start it because it is different than what I am used to . This walkthru that you are showing us has really helped clear up alot of questions I had about this kit . thank you I really appreciate it.
