What do you estimate the box height to be?

I would say 8/9' at least. From the frame up
Please tell me your building one !!! That thing is awesome. Loved it in the movie.

I'd go with 8' on the box overall 11.5' to 12'

I kind of agree with the 12' box height. The cab is a minimum of 48" BBC, if you take that as a 4' unit of measurement it looks like the total truck height is at least 15' ground to top of box.
If I can find a suitable Sightliner cab I will try and build it.

No one to my knowledge offers a Sightliner. I have a friend that is tring to purchase a 1:1 truck, and has promised to provide measurements so I can modify one of my Loadstar cabs that I'm working on.

It would not be taller than 13'6" from the ground the DOT puts a height limit on it due to passing under overpasses.

Like I say using a ruler the box height is the same as it's width. Being 96" (8') was the norm and the law then I would say the box itself is 8'. Using a typical chassis hieght of 3.5' to 4' gives a total hieght of 11.5' to 12'.

I still feel that box is a total of more than 13'6" high.

Hmmm --

Interior is generic truck interior seats etc. Dashboard is ???
Front cowl scratchbuilt from sheet Evergreen.
Sightliner windows scabbed from clear sheet stock.
Headlights from KW W925 kit.

Yes the sightliner had a 48" bbc bbc= bumper to back of cab. bbc has nothing to do with height. The box looks taller than it is wide to the eye but after I put a ruler to it the measurement was the same. 8' was the max legal width then and 13'6" was the standard max height. Pictures can cause optical illusions.

I agree with Leo on the height, 8 to 8 1/2 feet tall.

IH shared stampings from their Loadstar cab when they built the Sightliner. To my eyes, a Ford cab wouldn't even be close without ALOT of work.....the only part that might be close in shape is the cab rear wall.

A sightliner would be a cool resin piece in 1/24 or 1/25 there has (is) been one in 1/87 scale.I've seen a few with factory sleepers and a few converted to diesel power.

I've toyed with the idea of cobbling up a Sightliner using the cab from an R&R '57 A-series. I've seen at least one scale model built of a Sightliner, and if I remember, that's what the builder used as the basis.

It should- the R&R pickup has a decent A/B/C series cab, which is what the Sighliner cab was based on. Trouble is R&R castings usually aren't the greatest.
