Well,,,not quite a '61 yet. It was a '63 that Mike Brideau gave me that he picked up cheap. As you can see it had the full custom treatment ,,and rebuilt a couple times from the look of the glue marks that were under the paint. I could have sworn I had taken pics of it before I riped it apart last night but you get the idea. It had quad oval headlights and a huge Lincoln star in the middle of the grill and was heavily brush painted with what looked like Testors "wood" in the bottle.

I ordered a full set of '61 chrome and tail lights and a '61 dash from Modelhaus for it [ hope it fits LOL ] and it looks like I'll only have to modify the trunk lid a bit to make it look "1961"

Gonna be low and on 5 spoke "Peggys" like my '66 but this one will have an engine. I'm thinking a very dark and deep candy "Eggplant Purple" with white interiour with matching purple inserts in the deats and door panels,,,purple dash and carpet too, of coarse. I'm thinking I'd like to keep all the body trim and emblems as they were never shaved off like on so many old models that were done in a custom style.

Just picked up the re-release lincoln and I've got another (64?) at home. I need to build one, just never enough time.

I'll reserve judgement on using "Eggplant"! Not my fave but I'm sure you'll make it work. Its funny, I kind of like the effect on it after stripping... Mask off some panels and use it for a panel paint base color (don't think I've ever seen that done!)

Cheers

Looks like a fun project! I have restored a stock '61 that I bought at NAMCC many moons ago, but it was in better shape than this one...the brush painted pink paint they used came off incredibly clean. I have a pair of resin '61 CV "rejects" from a defunct caster that will be fun to customize.

Old Lincolns are cool...I have a few mint kits and restorables, eventually want to make a '66 CV conversion and '69 coupe, amongst others. I bought a restorable red '68 promo for all of $12 from Jackie Cheyenne about 25 years ago at a show in Glendale CA.
