Hello there.

I would like to know the differences between the different AMT 39/40 Ford tudor kits.

These are the kits I'm referring to:




I know the one with red model on the box comes with cragar rims and some racing parts. How about the other 2?

Also, is the chassis with fenders and 39 lights/grill interchangeable with AMT's 40 Ford coupe? I'd love to build a 39 Coupe since it's my favorite Ford ever.

As far as I know the contents are the same. All of the parts are interchangeable. I also like the 39 best, I try to get the fender and grille units whenever I can. I have about a dozen 40's and want to convert them all to 39.

I'm currently working on the Millenium '39/40 Ford kit and it has all the parts as the othe two kits shown if I'm not mistaken.

The top box art is the miss labeled art work. Other than that they are the same if they say 39/40 .

I have two of the one in the top pic, though I think mine says "Sedan." I'm pretty sure the plastic is identical in all the issues shown.

What I want know is, what's the deal with extra, separate running board?!

There was a variant of the 39/40 Sedan kit that had a different fender unit. It was part of the Diamond in the Rough set, which also included the AMT '53 F100 and the AMT Service Trailer. The 3 fenders on it were made to dented and had rusted out wheel openings. I beleive the remaining running board was bent as well. The other fender and running board were separate, and essentially in "new" condition.

Hi I have all 3.The top one is molded in tan the 2sd one is in gray and the 3rd one is in white plastic other then that all the same and all the same parts.

You can swap the fenders to make a '39 Coupe . You have to remove cross bracing over the chassis due to
interference . There is also a niggling little gap to ignore . It is "close enough for Government Work" . If I have to explain , you won't understand . Just like Harley Davidson and Jeep . Tahnx ..
