It's my number one worry with my kids. Glad you are all right, J. You live and you learn.

WoW! Jacen is just going to flip when he sees all these responses. Here's a small update. Most of you know I share a home with J and he's planning on marrying my sister next spring, so she and I have been watching over him the last 24. He has been unconscious for the most part, but when he's awake he has been lucid and talkative. And I mean ninety miles an hour talkative! It's actually a little funny (and tough to keep up with!) but these moments are fairly brief. This is a guy who absolutely hates taking pills so I know what kind of pain he's in because he hasn't hesitated to take a pain pill once.

The funny part is, he says he can't wait to get back to models, so he's been "building them in my mind". Is that dedication or what? Jenelle and I have thought about setting up something bedside so he can do a little but it's too soon yet, so we'll see about it in a couple days.

Luckily my cell phone is just that - a phone. It's goes in my pocket and doesn't get answered when I'm driving.

Jacen - try not to catch a cold. Coughing and/or sneezing REALLY hurts with busted ribs.

In the UK, we have extremely graphic traffic safety TV ads about stuff like texting while driving, etc.

Caution! These ads are NOT for the faint hearted!

Been wondering where you had been, Jacen. I'm very sorry to hear about this and I hope you have a speedy, full recovery.

String the little punk up is all I can say...for hurting you and totaling a Town Car.

For the record, texting while driving is illegal in all six New England states and you cannot use your phone in Connecticut.

Thank God your OK
As for those who text and drive, well in GA its a big fine for it but most important it kills people sometimes.
And they still don't care. Just like drinking and driving.
I drive a truck everyday and see sooooooo many stupid people texting and then look up make sure a cop don't see them then right back at it again.
How is the guy that hit you,he's messed up to lives because of it.
Its sad but true that most young people today are to stupid to do whats right and there the future.

For anyone on here that doe's text and drive or drink and drive heres something to think about.

Next time you look at someone going in your direction ask yourself will that be the person that I kill for being STUPID while driving?

Maybe you'll stop doing it.

I drive a truck to, it's amazing, people zoom by at 70mph, weave around in there lane, slow down and never even realize what the hell they are doing! It's freaking scary and it really ticks a person off at the same time. I'm guilty of texting and driving, but after I started driving a truck, I saw a lot more accidents from people being stupid and now I don't do it!

I will be praying for a speedy recovery for you!

Sorry to hear that Jacen...Gods speed to a quick recovery for you. Texting and driving is bad news for anyone if they would just realize how dangerous it really is...it can change or take a life in a second. Glad to hear you will be ok buddy.

Smokes... glad it wasn't worse. Get yourself a lawyer as soon as you can, many of them do visits in the hospital or at home.

I was in a 3-car accident last year and my back is still out to lunch. I essentially got hit by 2 other cars, one causing the accident and the other driver said the kid was on the phone or texting. My lawyer is looking into his phone records.

I've been through 165 doctor visits and counting, 1800 miles to appointments, 4 rounds of epidural injections, around $1500 out of pocket for various things, around 1200 prescribed pain killers, etc. No fault stopped paying for my time missed from work, I was out for 3 months. Not being to sit comfortably for long periods of time is killing my model building.

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope the other driver had a big liability policy!

Gentlemen, Thank you all so much for the incredible support and advice. I feel better already just knowing so many of you cared enough to take the time and respond. This is my third attempt at writing this as I keep choking up. I wish I could respond to each post but I just cannot. I was supposed to go to my regular doctors today and made it as far as the driveway. Before I even reached out for the door handle I broke out in a cold sweat and started shaking. I could not get into the truck. I'm scared to death. Driving at one time was my favorite thing to do. To get where I needed. To just clear my head. To go down a road i'd never been on before and just see something new. Now I can't even look at the truck in my drive. Dad and Kevin took one look at me and said I was ghost white. Am I ever going to be able to get in a car again? I don't know. All I can say is that this accident did something to me far worse than the physical damage. I may not be around here for quite some time. Again, I thank you all for the amazing support you've all shown. Please keep me in your thoughts. I have a feeling my rehab is going to be a hard, long road.

Whatever else you do today, I want you all to do me a little tiny favor. Go find your spouse, and get your children together. Now hug them and tell them how much they mean to you. If they ask you "What brought this on?" Just tell the "Because Jacen said to."

Thank you.

I went through the fear thing too Jacen....you will beat it in time. Think of relaxing things when riding...you have the power to keep an eye out for others out there while riding/driving so you are not helpless to what ever they do while their driving. Me I was hit on one side from behind at about 60mph while stopped at a red light...I do tend to look in the mirror more but wont let it stop me from doing something I want to...I am just more careful now.

Jacen, don't worry about the fear of driving right now. You're in pain and heavily medicated, it will be easier to overcome when you have your full faculties and feel more like yourself.

The sad part is, he wasn't going to be driving. :( His dad was going to take him. We haven't gotten a word out of him since. We're just letting him be for now.

You may need some mental therapy as well as physical therapy. I know someone who went through a similar thing earlier this year and she's getting better. I had some weird car-accident dreams for months after mine, so expect those. I'm still paranoid when I stop at lights.

Have you gotten a lawyer yet? This is the best thing I did and I went with a big name firm. WVa isn't a no-fault state so I'm not sure how you get anything to cover lost wages and out of pocket expenses.

I am in a much better frame of mind now. Junkman...those vids are nothing short of scary as hell!!!

I have spoken to a spychologist. Afterward I went out side and Kevin helped me wash the truck. That's all...just a wash. Yesterday I went out and sat in the truck. I didn't start it. I just turned the key and listened to some tunes. Today I started the truck...let it run a bit...put it in gear, then put it back in park and shut it off. Suprisingly...the world did not end. Tomorrow I will put the truck in gear and just idle through the park. It might take a few slow trips around the nieghborhood I live in but it's all baby steps.

Thanks again for the prayers and support. You are the greatest bunch of guys i've never met. :)
