So far, just scraping flash... BUT..OMG there is a TON of flash! I feel like I'll be at this for the better part of the Winter.

Wait until you see how badly the lines on the cove match up or rather don't match up. This was originally an MPC kit. If you really want to build a '57 Corvette gasser, throw that body in the trash and get the newer AMT '57 Corvette street machine (green on the box). That body has a more correctly shaped cove and every piece from the old MPC kit will work on it. Just make sure to use the MPC windshield frame if you plan on using either top on it.

Unfortunately Roger is correct. That flip hood is a nightmare.

Is it the flip hood that's the major problem with the kit?

The AMT green street machine '57 is a work of art, compared to the flip nose. Just a great kit.

The big problem with it is that the lines don't match up in the cove area where the frontend meets the body and the cove is the wrong shape at the rear of it. I had a project that I was using the gasser chassis/interior,top and windshield and the AMT body. I glued the hood shut, then cut the entire front end off the same as the gasser body. I then glued the firewall from the gasser into the AMT body. I did have photos of it in progress, but don't know if I still do since I traded it away.

I built the kit few years ago, and I remember that the parts fit was horrible. I can't remember many parts from that kit, what fit nicely to each other. Some parts, yes, fit nicely, but most of them didn't. The flip is excellent example. The "hinge" was not working at all, the flip nose didn't fit nicely to the body etc.
But even if the kit was bad when looking at the parts fit etc, I find it still pretty interesting, and that kit has some good parts in it. I think it's not the worst kit, I've seen.
