Standard : 440 / 4-speed ; 440+6 / 4-speed ; Hemi / 4-speed ; 1969 1/2 Six Pack Super Bee & Six Barrel Road Runner (regardless of transmission ; all had 4.10 gear).
Optional (i.e. , "Track Pak" & "Super Track Pak" w/ 4-speed and "Super Performance Axle Package")
3.54 and 4.10 gear ; all with "Sure-Grip" : TorqueFlite-equipped 440 , 440+6 and Hemi.

1966-1972*

*= 440 Magnum & Super Commando only ; 3.54 gear only ; 1972 Six Pack & Six Barrel w/TorqueFlite only and 8.75" rear only .

I think a Floral Top decal would be very hard to, um, install?, given the flat nature of a decal and the compound curvature of a roof, but maybe with enough decal softener it would work.

Doing it in more than one piece might be workable- sides and top maybe, but with the Mod Top you'd need to pay attention to getting the patterns on the pieces to line up.

I don't think a decal or sectioned decals would cut the mustard, replicating the mod-top. I'm sure there's more than 1 or 2 enterprising after-market companies that would be able to replicate the mod-top, in some sort of vinyl/other similar material? Obviously there's no doubt, reading the comments here about it, that they would sell it like hotdogs at a baseball game. I'd be interested too.

Exactly what I was thinking. The multi-piece decal would bring up that potential alignment issue, and that would be a deal-breaker for many. Thin, self-adhesive vinyl would seem to be perfect, then it would just be a matter of 'getting the hang of it', as applying such a graphic would be different than your typical waterslide decal. There'd absolutely be more than enough demand for somebody to at least try it out.

Any Dodge or Plymouth E and B body 440 + Hemi cars 1966 thru 1972 had the Dana 60 rear axle be it 440 four barrel, 440 six barrel or 426 Hemi

Also, All Hemi equipped 1968 Dodge darts and Plymouth Barracudas also used the Dana if it had a 4 spd trans

I got a few friends who build mostly racecars and they do wonders with waterslide decals, so much one piece decals that there's not much paint to see once finished. For example; complete carbon fiber hoods and all, using scale motorsports carbon fiber flat decal sheet, microsol, microset and a hair dryer.

After seeing what these guys can do. I think a mod top can be done with waterslide decals.

Does the mod top not have seams like a vinyl top? If it does, the decals could be three separate pieces.

I'm probably going to grab one of these just for the support. E-bodies aren't really my thing and Hemi-everything is a little overdone to me, but I do like what I'm seeing with this kit.

With thoughts to the mod-top...the self-adhesive vinyl sounds like it might be an ideal solution to this problem. As Ertl used to say...just like the real thing, only smaller!

I also wouldn't mind if they came out with the bench-seat; we need more of those and it would build the ultimate sleeper car, especially if done in some subdued colour like dark green or that soft metallic golden-beige with matching or black interior.

According to the video, they are doing the '92 LX 5.0 coupe. I have so many projects in mind, most involve stars on the doors. Also includes the 10 hole special duty alloy wheels, if you base a conclusion on only one pre-release photo.

I know for sure adhesive backed thin vinyl would work much better. You know those A4 sized folders you can get for a couple of bucks at any stationery store? That type of vinyl is perfect, you could even "warm" it up with a low-heat hair dryer to conform around the curvatures of any hood. Any interested after-market company would only have to print the vinyl & bam... Top seller!

The door numbers and flag on the roof of my General Lee are vinyl. The only problem could be once in place, there is no movement like a waterslide decal.

I think that the most difficult part of adding a vinyl roof to a hardtop would be making of the trim for the "C" pillar and Sailpanel .
The top's material is naturally going to be flat , just as in the 1:1 world !

Has there ever been a case where a kit manufacturer included separate trim for a vinyl top option ? I think that that would be a viable idea , just like the separate side trim "spears" on the Revell 1958 Impala .
As far as the seams on the roof , I believe that simply overlapping the decal sections would be convincing enough , no ? That's how it's done in the 1:1 realm

I've never seen a kit with separate trim for the vinyl top (or second color roof paint) border, and it would have to be very thin to be in scale.

It's not hard at all to add the trim to a body, though. Here's a '70 'cuda with the yellow floral top option. You can see the location of one of the top seams more clearly on the car to the left:

I have a pretty strong idea that if they ever were to offer a Mod Top, it would be as a decal, not a separate, die-cut vinyl piece. It's a matter of $$$. You can add another decal to the sheet for a lot less than outsourcing for the die-cut and printed vinyl appliqué.

As an FYI, there was at least ONE 1970 Hemi Cuda that came equipped with a mod top ( and it still exists today leading a pampered life )

I'm talking more about the amount of bulge and the slope, looks almost cartoonish to me.
