I was just wondering does anyone have any success with this? I picked up a set and it seems insanely tedious to work with the tiny pieces. Any pictures of the finished product would help, also how to mount the pices to the carbs. Thanks

Tiny photo-etch parts can be a bit intimidating at first. Follow directions on package. Lose several pieces that fly away when touched. Try a little trial and error. It will become less tedious and more comfortable to mess with these detail parts after some practice. Clear enamel was suggested to me for mounting pieces, super-glue works at times too. Sorry no pics. Good luck. Soon enough you will be saying "bring on the photo-etch"

I cover one side of my photo-etch with blue painters tape to keep the parts from flying when they are cut.

A few tips. First thing I do with a photo etch fret (if it isn't on a rubber backer) is to place it on a wide piece of masking tape. This keeps parts from flying away when cut from the fret. Go to the local craft store and get a small pair of jeweler's shears. these are what hobby jewelers use for cutting wire when making necklaces and earrings. A couple jeweler's files are a good idea too since you won't always get a perfect cut that doesn't leave a nub. It's also a good idea to have a magnifying visor unless you have exceptional eyesight. Finally, many people find it to be a good thing to have a large lap tray or catch apron for those parts that are inevitably dropped.

PE parts can definitely be tedious to work with, but building models is a labor of love to begin with. Your best bet is to start with something less labor intensive than a carb linkage setup, to get used to it. Start with scripts and other parts that only require one or two parts at a time. Then, once you are more comfortable with working with them, you can move up to multi piece assemblies.

If you are talking about the throttle return spring, H.O. scale slot car brush springs are perfect for this. Sorry, I don't know what guage they are.

Ok guys after hours of squinting and cursing, I think I finally got it. I used 8 gauge guitar string to mount the pieces and it doesn't look half bad.

Just a related FYI: something I've been saving for throttle-return springs is burned-out lightbulb filaments. They come in a lot of different sizes and are perfect little coil springs. Be sure to wear leather gloves and eye protection if you salvage them.

I have found wrapping 28ga wire around a pin or needle makes appropriate sized throttle return springs and you can make them as long that way as you like.

remember to google image search carbs if you really want to get your PE dressed carbs to look like the real thing.
