DID YOU ADD TO THE FRONT SPINDLES TO LOWER IT? LOOKS LIKE YOU DID BUT HARD TO SEE. ALSO CUT MY BACK AND WAS A EASY JOB GOT MINE SITTING LOW IN REAR JUST GOT TO GET THE FRONT FINISHED!

Hey Tom...Yeah, I added about 3/16" to them and redrilled an 1/8" higher. I see you've already got yours sorted out...can't wait to see it all finished up. I ended up making new ones, though, and bringing the front back up just a bit. It was sitting too street machine for the rest of the style. Looks a lot better on this one leveled out to only a slight nose down rake.

Where'd you pick your Olds up from? Don't say Ed... apparently his supplier isn't getting them for another month.

Toe lee doh! My brother and his wife, and my son and I ended up deciding to go at the last minute. I got this and a couple sets of truck tires/wheels from Modelhaus, plus another set of truck wheels from Missing Link. That is by far the least I have ever bought at that swap...but I couldn't wait to get my hands on this kit.

I love the nose down attitude, with the wheels...Perfect!!

And why not use the 303 ? I'm sure you can make the hood hinges scale......

Sure. Hinges would be no sweat. I just think it'd be a waste to hide this mill in a full bay. I don't display them with the hoods up anyway. I've already got a Model A project that'll be able to show it off proper.

Chassis is all painted up but I need to tone the floor pan down and repaint a few pieces that I mangled up in the process of raising the front back up a little...I'll post those pics tomorrow when it's all looking good again.

In the meantime, I jumped in on the cabin. I often don't prime interior parts...especially when there's good delicate engraving...so I didn't notice the sinkers on the arm rests until I got the first base coat on. That won't do at all, and I'd wished they were separate anyway to make it easier to do a little treatment on those cove areas...so off they came.





Tamiya Gold base with a custom mixed Sand and Copper for the inserts and windlace...



Body color brought in on the dash and door trim...





Time for my favorite part. Foil! Yeah, it really is my favorite part.

Thought so. Maybe I'll be able to make it out next year. No worries- I've got a couple of these reserved, and a plan B and C if that doesn't pan out.

It's a great kit. I need at least 2 more to cover the variations I'd like to do, but it's not in the budget so it'll have to wait a bit. The show was decent. We got there a little late and ended up leaving way too early. I was having a pretty rough time after the drive and was stuck in the chair the whole time, but it was worth it if for no other reason than to see a few old model buds again.

One thing about the dash decals - the speedo is too large for the cavity. I had to trim into the image by a good bit on the bottom, including cutting into the lower arch. It'd have been better if I were able to split the difference top and bottom, but the upper arch was dead on. It is what it is...still looks pretty good, I s'pose.

Very well done indeed. Great attention to detail and I like the stance. I have gotten mine a little lower, but had to cut the suspension up much more than yours.

Thanks, guys. Hard to believe I haven't worked on this one for a month now. I got distracted by the brick display thing, but that's almost finished so I'll be back on this very soon.

Tom, it's getting One Coat Root Beer, same as the upper trim on the doors and dash...but I'm still debating on what I'll use, specifically, for the creamy roof. I've tried a couple spoon tests of what I have on hand and they don't quite got the right juju. I'll find the right one eventually.

If you're open to ideas, Chris, I have one.

Chrysler until a year or two ago, offered a color called "Cool Vanilla," which is a nice off-white/cream/yellow cast, and looks very similar to the white on a head of root beer. You might want to look into that.

Another idea might be your preferred source of Wimbledon White, which has a cream cast to it.
