I plan on some serious extra detailing on this car. I like this kit because it is relatively simple, an leaves room for add-ons and extra detail.

I started with the rear end, sanding away the flash, puttying a couple areas, resanding, and adding a couple coats of Duplicolor Silver. I also drilled holes in the universal shafts to allow a small piece of brass, to simulate the retaining pins.

Here you can see the small holes, 4 total.

The small piece of brass rod, cut and sanded.

Brass inserted. Mission accomplished.

Fantastic Doug ! Another Cobra build to watch. Can't have too many Cobra's. I will be watching with great interest. Good luck with your build.

BTW, in case anyone out there thinks they can't take decent pictures, here's my setup and it's simple enough for anyone.

Desk lamp from garage sale - $1.00
Large piece of paper - 25 cents
Two pieces of blue tape - 5 cents
Cell Phone camera

Thats pretty much what I use, different light, but the back drop is the same, it makes a world of difference

For WIP's I will use copy paper

Small update. Painted chassis lacquer black and clear coated with testers dullcote. The entire body handed and primed.

I used Vallejo modeling paint for a few pieces...very nice paint. I thinned with the medium thinner, a little water, and a little 70% alcohol...all overkill...bit it airbrushed marvelously.

After sanding all imperfections out of the body, I primer with Duplicolor. I applied BMF to the emblems, and carefully cut around them, leaving only foil on the emblem. I will paint, clear, and remove the paint and clear from the emblems, showing the silver only.

Yes Nate, a slow hand is needed. It was the first time I'VE tried that trick as many modelers here have recommended it. Works really well. Updated pics to follow.

UPDATE: The kit decals were garbage. I didn't know this until after I attempted to apply them. Removing them ruined the best paint job I have ever completed. Brake fluid bath time. Ffffudge.

While the body was soaking in brake fluid I was able to get a lot of wiring done on the engine. Thanks for looking.

Small update. Finished the body with Wicked's Red, and cleared with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel Clear from the can. The engine is pretty much done, and moving on to the interior next.

Oh my, that is a beautiful paint job, how did you get it so smooth, more so using the clear from the can?
