Hi, all... inspired by an article in this month's Evo, I'd love to build a model of a Singer 911. I'm not normally a Porsche guy, but it just looks SOOOO cool.

I need some advice on where to start, kit wise. The article says the cars start out as "964" 911s, but the bodywork is inspired by the 2.8 RSR, which even I know is an earlier car...
My question is, which Fujimi or Revell (or even Tamiya) Porsche should I be looking for to base my build on? I think I want to do minimum bodywork changes, so even if the mechanicals are a 964, if the body's not right I might want something earlier-style.
Any suggestions, folks?

Besides early Ford-based hot-rods, 911 Porsches are my other true love. The Singer cars are absolutely spectacular, and if I could have ANYTHING, that's probably what it would be.
As you correctly pointed out, the look of the Singers is that of a pre-'74 car, with the rounded front hood-edge and the turn-signals / parking lights in the lower fenders instead of the bumper.
The '73 Fujimi Carrera RS (white car, orange Carrera graphics box-art) has the correct bumper and light design, but the flares are not as wide as the Singer cars, and Singer has widened the early-style bumpers to fit the widened flares.
The '74 Fujimi Carrera RS 3.0 ( lime green car box-art) has wider flares, but the later bumper and light design, which also affects the fenders.
I honestly think a 930 would offer the right flares to do the Singer car, but the hood, front auxiliary lights and bumpers from the '73 Carrera, with the bumpers modified to fit the width of the 930 flares, is the least-effort way to go. The 930 also offers suitably wide Fuchs alloy 5-spoke rims.................
I'm looking at my Testors 930 right now, and the flares are right on. I also looked at a Tamiya 930, and though the flares are right, the rocker-panels are way too prominent and would have to be modified.
