Found a 3 dollar 66 Rivi glue bomb at a show in Norfolk Va.
The Buick Nailhead was a bonus..what I needed was the
air cleaner cover. I had second air cleaner in my stash.

First I cut off the snorkels and then used the Dremel to
reduce the sides of the air cleaner..after that I used
sanding sticks to reduce the back and sides.
Need to add a small bullet to the center to give it
a finished look. If done correctly a Kustom only needs the
front wheels showing anyway..

Another option is the 'Road Rats' 1/24th-scale diecasts by Jada, which are still pretty easy to score....my friend Matt used these on his rendition of CheZoom, and I have a set put aside for my Flinstone-bodied Hudson sled:

Yeah I wish an aftermarket company would put out these ripple wheel covers... I know I'd use them on a bunch of different builds.

Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland has them in resin. Would need to be plated. I have a set of the Jada units, very nice, but a tad bit large. They look great on the Chezoom, or a pickup, but on something like a 49 Ford or Merc, they're too large.

Great tip James! One question: would it be possible to only cut the snorkels off and just put the entire air cleaner inside the tire or would it be too small?

I just like trashing styrene with my Dremel..hahaha
