Final stop at the end of a chase that ends with a sideways skid, even if only going 18mph.

With the hubcaps flying off, and then in the next shot, all of those hubcaps that turned into fling saucers are back on the wheels

Fling saucers?

Anything like frisblings?

Slaprockets?

Just out of curiousity, did that CV lose anything else besides that light bar?

:P

there are a couple of constants that i can think of,

1st- there are always 2 cops forced to work together, that dont like each other ,but end up becoming best friends.

2nd - one of them is always very serious and the other is usually a jokester that annoys the hell out of the 1st guy

Getaway car and chase car are going side by side, ramming each other just about docile enough so neither of them veers off the road. This takes quite some skilled stunt driving, since sideswiping a car off the road is dead easy.

Just ever so slightly tipping the brake pedal, or just lifting off the accelerator, would make the chase car shoot ahead, which could then be conveniently PITed into the flora. However, this never happens. They keep going side by side for ages, until either

- a truck comes the other way
- a parked, empty car transporter with folded down ramps acts as a launch pad for the car to the right
- a narrow bridge or tunnel is ahead
- one of the cars is dodged into a parked row of cars

And something completely different and not car related - have you noticed, that a door only squeaks and creaks, when a baddy opens it? The same door in the same movie has perfectly well oiled hinges, when the good guy uses it, unless he needs to open it to sneak up on the baddy.

There is at least 1 car that can do that.... Christine... I'm searching for her ;-)
Dan

She's in Wisconsin...along with the B.J. And The Bear rig, as well as the green Pruett(spelling?) Kenworth.

There is always more pedal to go when a car comes up behind them.
Even if they are already going top speed.

And I've the side-by-side dodge'ems get to that part where one gets sent into a row of parked cars that usually involves a fruit/newspaper stand and then hitting a car which launches it 5 stores in the air in a corkscrew fashion and invariably some form of explosion.

Dannos' story reminds me of an Adam 12 episode where one of them easily tackles and arrests a guy. Watching Cops, it often takes 4 or more to subdue some guys.

Biggest fight I ever had was with a 4'11" female who was a biker's girlfriend. She went off in a south side tavern and when we got there was whippin' a on the club. The bikers helped us hold her down until the rest of the squad arrived.

She sobered up, bailed out, returned to the neighborhood, and apologized to the police for being such a pain.

I seem to remember Jeremy Clarkson smoking the tires on a Volvo wagon trying to climb a wet grass covered hill ;)

I was wondering more about which won the race ;) I remember seeing some testing results and the Cherokee police trucks would run away from the CVPI's below 70-80 mph.......somehow I'd be willing to bet they'd have trouble keeping up in an urban chase setting too.

The 9C1 Caprice had a tremendous amount of torque in that 5.8 LT1 motor. It was there from the start and seemed to just keep building. There was no "on the pipe" so to speak with the Chevy. It did have a real heavy feeling front end though. Can you say understeer? I knew you could, not often though but it was there none the less. I never lost the rear end on dry pavement.

The first iterations of the CVPI (we started using them in' 94) were quick, and handled well for a bigger car, but just didn't "have it" power wise in an urban setting. Just as the engine wound up and started producing, we got to the next intersection and were braking. It was a complete squirrel at speed as well. The front end tracked well, it just felt loose and unsettled. In '98 Ford introduced the Watts link rear end and remapped the motor for more low end torque. Can you say oversteer? Yup dry pavement, new '98 CVPI, hot call and I lost the rear end during a medium speed left right left transition through traffic. No warning no nothing, the mofo just let go and we started sliding. It was easily recovered, but wow, talk about a rush. I darn near spilled my java.

When the bad guys car turns over, there are only about 12 seconds before the car explodes. This always seems to happen on TJ Hooker

I worked with a few stunners in my day. I was married to one for a spell.
