hi all , saw this kit for sale and had to buy it straight away , back in the day people here got their license in a opel blitz , they where made from van like to mild truck like this one..

when they passed the drivers test they got a lisence for car and truck in one go

started this after posting the topic and i already had a good head start today

chassis

76256_212431408889777_1742091309_n.jpg

then used the engine from the kit i was thinking of using a ford v8 but i will keep the hood closed and a removable hood would ebcome too flimsy atm with the cab in several sections

29399_212431458889772_1826073514_n.jpg

then started to build the cab

409305_212431568889761_353463777_n.jpg

getting some idea's

182507_212431595556425_790825355_n.jpg

the kit includes tyres from hard plastic instead of rubber so i looked in the partsboxes and used these rubber ones

534638_212431642223087_1347111257_n.jpg

then channeled the cab and set it nice and low , not to low , still needs to be a kind of flatbed truck

557643_212431688889749_225125973_n.jpg

tyres still run free and the whole assembly still steers

put some new tyres in the rear wheels

374171_212468725552712_1327294496_n.jpg

and just put this on the table and started to think waht to do at the back

30954_212468822219369_1232975187_n.jpg

then it hit me , use teh chassis and engine from the dan fink woody witch i used the body from for the towtruck build

and i had a loose deuce body with no roof lying aound ....and make a salt lake racer to put on it

Richard, this kit would be the perfect candidate for a chopped top, the body is already in pieces! Great work so far, I'll be watching!

thnx and yes i thought about chopping the roof but the roof is not real high stock .. and seeing how high the actual cabine is at the sides .. would become a bit out of proportion .. at least that was what i thought liooking at the body ..

there would be a bog chance it would look odd ...

but dont worry i have some plans to spice up the looks of the cabine a bit

Looking good so far. These kind of matched builds are very popular at the car shows. Keep it coming.

thnx !

Nice job with the muli piece body. I still cringe when I see one due to the ones I built years ago by Palmer and Pyro.

well when i saw the cabine i was really expecting a lot of work ...i never did one like this also

when putting the parts together there was some tension / stress on the parts but after some tape to hold it togheter it really wasnt that bad ..

also helps to really sand the contact lines flat , when you look real close they always have some inperfections

ps i needed to do 2 posts for 3 quotes ?? it said to many blocks of quotes .. weird why would there be no room for 3 quotes in one post ??

started with the deuce body , flattened all the edges after the roof removal .. sanded some round shapes in it again

and made de interiour flow nicely into the body edges at the back

531068_212771828855735_1689246385_n.jpg

28867_212771848855733_769185210_n.jpg

then started a visor , used a chevy rear bumper for this

45998_212771868855731_2116970848_n.jpg

430714_212771885522396_1780686738_n.jpg

made some rough side caps

522185_212771898855728_1124382621_n.jpg

aftyer the first flattening

306682_212771928855725_1163611494_n.jpg

598963_212771948855723_1256234480_n.jpg

sanded some more and made strips wich run from the visor onto the side of the cab

thnx guys :)

just did some work on the racer ... crappy pics due to the red of the body and the fact its dark outside

i narrowed the bottom of the body slightly by glueing it onto the interiour box , this created a more sleek shape

then glued the forewall against the front and not inbetweer the body .. and at the bottom let it stick outside the body

557750_212891678843750_1491806605_n.jpg

then flattened that so its one piece with the body

66289_212891722177079_559713287_n.jpg

487180_212891728843745_968566391_n.jpg

after some sanding its flush and the kind of raised line on the side runs through into the firewall now , because i kept that lower and created a edge , i love the shape like this

26653_212891768843741_223871453_n.jpg

really crappy pic of the interiour wich also is worked onto the body so you dont see ugly gaps inside

522272_212891795510405_873660919_n.jpg

then put the dash onto the edge and not under it and also let that stick out and made it flush / whole with the body

545298_212891818843736_1165582034_n.jpg

then started a tonneau cover all just basics and nothing will really stay this way

connected the hubs today , and used a spring from a pen to make springs

again i'm building this dry lake racer to put on the back of the truck but its starting to become a build on its own ..

also this is just build with left overers out of the partsboxes so i have to be a bit creative

the underside will be all smooth for streamline , just a start , will make a reces for the engine / carter

found some plastic window things , dont know how you guys call them we call them lamellen , they are like curtains on a rails and you can close them or open them (hang in a row)

perfect for making model stuff with , cheaper then styreen since they where trown away :)

i also have smooth ones ...

182504_214818358651082_1534256412_n.jpg

cant really see it now with this light but i can use it as a floor and those recesses looks great .. will be the top layer of a thicker floor

also very nice stuff for my diorama !!

530775_214818371984414_2053054763_n.jpg

then started to make struts to the shocks .. i know shocks and springs are usually not sitting straight like this , i wanted to use a bar and make the suspension ridgid .. but i thought springs would add some detail ..

i had no real room to let them go sideways so i kind of made up this ... something difefrent i guess :)

533801_214818421984409_746798377_n.jpg

first wanted to do a ridged version like that but changed to springs when i was almost done

Rdstr_-front-suspension-.jpg

after a lot of trial and error i finally found a noce base shape for a grille .. used the inner grille part of a 53 ford pick up

needs wat more work and shaping and making it flow with the body
