Its been a long time since plowboy asked for comparison pictures of these Jeeps but finally here they are.

Looking straight down in a side by side comparison view.

On the right is the AMT Snap 96 Tahoe, then the diecast Tomb Raider Wrangler build OOB, Next is a Daisy Duke CJ5, last a lifted WWII Jeep. In the front is the 1/27 scale Maisto diecast Wrangler for another comparison.

How does the Tamiya Wrangler compare? I've only ever seen the Daisy Duke Jeep and the Tamiya Jeep, will this Rubicon be a full detail kit with an engine or is it going to be a curbside?

I LOVE it when this happens! Some guy ACTUALLY thought it was worth what some clown paid on E-Bay for it. Glad ta see it back as a plastic kit. It'll run what MAYBE 20 bucks?  Take THAT scalpers!

How close in length/size are the 1:1 CJ-5 and Rubicon?

They are different generations of Wrangler, the Tamiya is the earlier YJ, the Revell is a TJ.   The Tamiya builds as a pretty stock Euro-spec version, IIRC, the Revell builds only as a custom off roader w/ big tires, etc.  The Tamiya kit has an engine IIRC, the Revell looks to be a curbside.

A TJ Wrangler is about a foot longer than a CJ-5.   Similar width, longer wheelbase.

OK, so the Rubicon die-cast above and the CJ-5 to its left are reasonably close in 1/25 scale, and considering the Rubicon has fender flares, it'll look even wider than the CJ-5.

These should be hitting shelves in about a month, RPP's just got March's stuff, so by this time next month it should be out.  Kit #4053, MSRP $23.95.

Only issue I see with the kit is they used 6-bolt wheels rather than 5-bolt, as the real thing has.

FWIW I got the TR Wranglers when WM had them on closeout for $4 ea. The DaisyD Ci (sic) was on clearance for $7. At these prices I bought all there were.

Not sure why this got bumped to May, but it's up on Revell's facebook page as one of their May releases:

Something must have happened.  I'm still waiting on our RPP shipment, that usually hits in the 3rd week of each month.  Never got an updated release schedule this month (usually get that around the 15th), so I don't even know what's supposed to be on it.  Could have missed the boat from China - that stuff happens, sure there's a simple reason for it.

*edit* Now I see they've combined April and May's releases.  Looks like we'll probably end up getting May's stuff a little early and April's stuff a little late.  Betcha they held the shipment so the 5.0 Mustangs could make it on a little ahead of schedule...    B)

Mark your calendars... On Friday, May 3 we'll be launching our mid year collection! It includes nearly 40 kits, including all new tooling, updated favorites, and some special retro releases you won't want to miss.

Per Revell on Facebook. This should include the Jeep!!! WOO HOOO!!!

Chinese New Year caused a major fustercluck over there.  Jeep will be out next month - *edit* end of this month, actually.

I noticed that too, but for me that's easy enough to overlook for now. B)

Hooray for more 6-bolt rims! They are seriously lacking in scale.

Okay, The Die cast had metal body and everything else was that Vinyl that don't take kindly to Glue.

I just got the kit today and it is all made of plastic. Yaaa Hoo

Hood molded shot but a few minutes with a X-acto knife and
