I have just recieved what amounts to me as earth shattering news. The one and only, original 1966 BATMOBILE will be on the auction block a Barret-Jackson in the spring.

Most of you know I have no love for George Barris...so why am I so upset? Because I can't afford it! I'm gonna go cry in the corner now. :(

The fondest hope is that it be bought by a true fan who will restore it to season one glory. I myself...would need ten mortgages to afford this car...and yet I dream. Bought a lottery ticket about two hours ago.

If I had the cash, I'd buy it and have it turned back to the Futura.

I had a similar thought. I would find an appropriate builder to duplicate the car as the Batmobile, then have the original restored to the Futura. :)

Not a bad idea, remove all the Bat parts, build a steel replica car to reinstall them on, and restore the Futura to perfect original spec. I bet these Aussies could do the fab:

Buy more lotto tickets...

As Johnny Carson would say," I did not know that",

Is it public knowledge?

Barris was only one of the foremost Car Customizers on the planet who set the stage for things to come.

You have a better chance of being hit by lightning then winning the lottery. Why does it need to be restored???

There were none Harry. When they did the show they were paid for two reruns and that was all. It really was a lousy deal. Back then they didn't have all the entertainment lawyers and such they do nowadays. This is why Adam still tours the comic book show circuit and asks $50 for an autograph.

You have a better chance of being hit by lightning then winning the lottery. Why does it need to be restored???

The car has been re-painted a couple times over the years, but no formal upkeep has ever been done sadly. So basically for the fourty three years the car has been to hundreds of shows, where hundreds of grubby fingers have broken parts off it, stolen pieces of it and just generally ran the car down. Barris himself had a hand in the car's delapidation as over the years he has stuck to and removed dozens of hokey stupid looking devices to it. At one point when the engine was replaced he even cut part of the frame away to remove the transmission and never repaired it. Just one of the reasons I have a problem with Barris. Yes it's his car, but it's also a huge piece of americana being one of the most recognisable props ever made.

On that note just let me say I don't want to muddy up the thread or board with my personal feelings about him, but anyone who wants to know the truth or is just curious about my side of things, feel free to PM me. Unless of course I have you blocked. :D

EDIT: And yes I know, but since i've already been struck by lightning... :D

I'm not entirely sure how much money is in voice work, but I hear Seth McFarlane does pay well. It really would be cool if he bought it though. :D
