Here's my opinion of what is wrong with automobile design in the last 50 year.
If it is true that this is going to be the new El Camino, then I'll save my money and buy me a car built before 1970.

That's a pretty old concept. It has a PONTIAC badge on it!

thats kinda ugly. maybe lower the bedline a little. and square up the rearend to match the shape of the front and it might look better but im sure its cheap made and wont last long at all compared to the abuse of the old elkys

I like it, that is a Holden UTE re-badged as a Pontiac

I think it looks better then something from the 70's , and better creature comforts ![]()
You know, this is 2012, styling from 70's is long gone

They say GM still has a styling department but nobody knows what they do all day. I vote with the pre '70 idea.

Someone is messing with Photoshop again!!!

I don't care much for this at all but I wonder if the market wouldn't like to see a Ranchero and El Camino again.

I'd consider buying that to replace my '72 Chevy truck. Could probably replace one of my Camaro's with it too at the same time.
Seems like a win/win.
You know..., you can like the older stuff and the newer stuff at the same time, each is not exclusive of the other. I like my OLD Camaro as much as my NEW Corvette...

Whats the point of posting a photoshop image of a what if car from a Manufacture that is no longer around?, Could that be done as a Chevy version?, yes.

Good point, but that will be lost around here, I like older vehicles, dont get me wrong about that, but like you said, one can like more the just one era from the automobile world.
For daily drivers, I want something from the last 15 years, but it would still be nice to take a classic out on the weekends

It's not a Photoshop, it's the G8 Sport Truck concept from a few years back. GM axed Pontiac before it went into production. I have heard rumors it still may see production as a Chevrolet once the Caprice/SS goes into production.

I heard the rumors too, but figured it was dead when Pontiac was axed, I can see GM using the Chevy brand here to test waters with the new 2013 SS goes into production , but the GTO didnt do to well, but that I think is different story

I'd kinda like a last-gen GTO pickup. That would get my attention.

...Something tells me that in the early 1970's there were guys that complained about the new Chevrolet Impala not looking as good as the 1935 Chevrolet.
^This.^

That's not an abomination...
THIS is an abomination! ![]()

(What's interesting is if you do a Google search for "studecamino", there's a whole slew of these things!)
Posted 06 December 2012 - 04:41 PM
Good grief what a waste of an El Camino.
Posted 06 December 2012 - 05:30 PM
Waste the El Camino, what about the stude?!?!?! Theres a local that has a gold one and it's ugly, but cool at the same time.
Posted 06 December 2012 - 05:34 PM
The El Camino was never a stand alone body style from the windshield forward. So to all that said the Holdem Ute/ Pontiac is an abomination and ugly, what would you use as a base for a new El Camino?

A 1970 Chevy doesn't look as good as a 1935 Chevy. Check prices, which one is worth more in equal condition?
