CUSTOM GASTANK!!!

I cut a wedge shape about 3/16th inch from the front bottom of the tank, tapered off to nothing at the rear bottom. Here are the Stock and Custom Tanks together...

DSCN9972Q.jpg

I also cut the slot at the front to lower the Tank on the frame. I traced the shape of the Tank on to sheet plastic for a New Bottom.

Here is the New Tank Bottom in place!

DSCN9951Q.jpg

Then I cut out a New Groove in the bottom....

QUAD BOD MODS!!!

I started to make a Body for the Quad Trike. I started with a Cardboard "Body Side" Template and worked with it untill it was pretty close, then I traced the shape on to sheet plastic.

DSCN9983Q.jpg

I continued working on the plastic Body Side untill it was very close to what I wanted and then I traced the Body side to a second piece of plastic and cut it out.

DSCN9984Q.jpg

I did several Mock-Ups, Testing & Fitting...

DSCN9961Q.jpg

Now, I've got a pretty good Idea what the Body will look like when pieced together...

It's great to see people thinking outside the square. I like things that don't have "instructions".

BOD MODS 2!!!

I cut a Seat Support and Rear Pan from sheet plastic. They are just a little wider than the Frame...

DSCN9986Q.jpg

The Dotted lines are where I will be bending the sides in. Here are the 2 New Parts glued in place!

DSCN9988Q.jpg

I cut a small piece of plastic for the top of the body and bent the sides in to meet it. Then it was glued in place with Zap-A-Gap, Green Label.  Rear View...

BOD MODS 3!!!

I bent the 2 sides of the top in and put some Zap-A-Gap glue  on the joint, then I put some Baking Powder on it. That held the top sides together, then I added a small triangular piece of plastic to fill the hole...

DSCN9994Q.jpg

I made a cardboard template of the rear open space, and transfered the shape to .080 sheet plastic. I soaked the New Piece in hot water to help the  bending go easier.

DSCN9996Q.jpg

Here is the Rear Filler Piece in place. I cut it in half to make the job easier. I had to add a third piece in the middle to fill the gap...

BOD MODS 4!!!

I cut a piece of plastic to fill the area between the Body and Gas Tank. Glued it in place as shown...

DSCN0034Q.jpg

MORE...QUAD MODS!!!

I made the Quad Body with .080 sheet plastic. This stuff is almost 1/8th inch wide! I used the Wide Plastic so I could Carve down all of the outside edges and Round them off...

UP ON TWO WHEELS!!!

I added a short length of plastic tubing to each end of the axle to make it wider. I found some brass tubing that fit inside the rear axle, but it doesn't fit the rear wheels...

DSCN0168Q.jpg

I used the next two larger sizes of aluminum tubing to reduce the rear wheel hole size. I cut short lengths of tubing to fit inside the holes and glued them in. Now the Wheels will Fit!

DSCN0174Q.jpg

Here are the Wheels & Tires in place on the New Axle.

FENDERS/ARMRESTS!!!

I am using 2 Revell Chopper Rear Fenders on the Quad. I cut out the outside edge of each Fender so they will clear the rear tires.

DSCN0156Q.jpg

I cut both Fenders off at a point, to match each other.

DSCN0165Q.jpg

Then I cut 2 strips of plastic, bent them and glued them on the inside edge of both Fenders.
