Does anyone know how I could scratch build a steering wheels !

why dont you get some plastruct (evergreen possibly too) white coated  small diam round with a wire running inside it and make it the diameter you want.  Then create your center?

We don't see someone scratchbuilding a steering wheel very often. Is there something particular you want that might be available elsewhere?

I don't have any suggestions on how to scratch build one sorry, but if you find out how, I am interested as well...I cant seem to find the steering wheel I am needing...good luck

O ring ? maybe gloss coat it to make it more stiffer?

 

 

button? cut out the center with a jeweler's saw.

 

check the plumbing department at the hardware store?

 

 

chain & superglue for the low & slow build?

I saw this tute somewhere. It works well with chain or cord, for a vintage look. It's pretty straight forward. The only trick part is the soldering, super gluing, or white gluing the rim while it is on the pencil or other fixture.

I wanted a flat bottom wheel for my Z06 build and had nothing in the parts bin that I was satisfied with. I came up with this built from solder and various styrene bits.

Fred by all means post up what you accomplish. That's what this place is all about.

I will be trying to build my own steering wheel over Xmas, and will post it up if i get it right... I will be starting with the outside ring from a kit steering wheel and adding my own center. Good thing is, it doesn't need any kind of dish, so should be fairly simple....
