de rough wood work is done , now its a massive sand job and clearing the wood so it will come to life

then i need to get some interiour stuff started like seats color etc .. then make some doorhandles , truk handle , tails and headlights ...

here you can see the round shapes i sanded in the wood

there is some discoloration but that will go away its from the firs layers of clear soking into the wood a bit

also did the dash in metallic blue , tiny thing and luckely i was able to get it tight (the outer line) on the clear coat layer that was on there

maybe i will do some of the dark blue on the doorpanels later , bit cramped now to paint there but maybe the armrests and the upper line under the wood will be possible to paint still
next time i def will keep the interiour loose and pre paint but because this was nessecery due to the wooden outer skin i wnet about it this way..
for me it was a first with real wood so i had to just try something

Looking good Rich!
I have built quite a few wood bodies in the past. Even have a thread here on MCM forums... but a lot of the photos are missing due to Fotki swapping servers. Something I am currently looking into and attempting to repair.

because unintentionally it kind of got the surf feel / beach feel along the way i decided to make a wooden bodyboard for the rod
a surfboard would be a bit big and well a boyboard is something different ![]()
a example from google i found > now there are loads of shapes and some pretty square , i took some styling dues from 2 different boards and wanted to keep it basic so it looks like a bodyboard instead of ending up with something that looks like a surfboard too small for the scale
i used the same wood as i did for the body and made smaller strips and glued dark and light wood together , let it stick ou (the dark wood) and flattened it

cut the basic shape
and gave it some mild curves

did that in a hour or so , now its clear coated and drying

weird i can only go on the forst page of every topic on the forum , the rest all give a error screen ..
oh well ![]()
i was home early today and the sun was shining a bit , so i took the opportunity to make some betetr shots .
shot them on a painters canvas outside
the previous posted pics where all shot in the evening , these all come out way better
the clear on the wood dryed up great , no more stains from soaking into the wood

wih the bodyborad , the line will be changed to a tiny poly line , this was a test evrsion with electrical wire

usually you dont take pictures with the sun on the otehr side (against the light) i just tried this and i love how it came out

Looks great, only thing i see is the master cylinder looks to be upside down. The reservoir should be facing the bottom of the floor.
