hi Guys, can you count me in please, i'll be doing a subaru legacy wagon.
Posted 03 January 2013 - 12:00 AM
And we're off.
I, as usual, will do nothing but post inane comments, pointless suggestions and encouragement until approximately the middle of May at which point I will dive in, make a start, hit a snag and stall until November.
Well done all you who have made a start but remember, we've got 11 months so take your time and do it right 2nd or 3rd time.
And I haven't forgotten the unbuilt kit pics. It's just they are on the other computer.

after looking at the corvette i decided to keep the stok driveline in my 4-4-2 and enter a GTO later with the corvette runnings
Posted 03 January 2013 - 11:46 AM
Well i started getting some body work done, rescribing door and trunk lines, cleaning up flash, filling seams, etc i got a coat of primer on it but theres still alot to do. I will probably be using the wheels/tires shown but i will have to do some research and see when Hoosier started selling slicks to find out weather or not i can keep the decals i put on them awhile back or not. the front end sits a little high and should be lowered but im not shure how i could do it anyway here is how it is now

Pics.

Current plan is chassis, running gear, interior tub from the 'cruiser plus engine from the Celsior plus some form of power adder plus some wide low profile rubber.

That Celsior, is that basically like what they sold in North America as a Lexus, is it the RWD V8 32 Valve 4 Cam? If so I have one of these in my shop at work right now, interesting car to try and do a starter on.

OK, I found a suitable kit for this years Cannonball, although I feel like I'm bringing a knife to a gun fight (see what I did there ??)

Well you saw the Cormaro funny car get shortened but the Corvette chassis still needs to be lengthened. So chop, chop.

Glue, glue.

I'm trusting I won't be following any rickety nail trucks so I'm dropping the spare tire in favor of extra fuel. Tank made from scratch to fill the spot.

Hmmm Rickety Nail truck, quit giving me idea's.
Looks great.

You`ll be following my truck but it wont be rickety and you`ll be too far behind to have nails matter ![]()

Ken, before you get to far going with that dodge do a search on the forum
there is a small issue with the way the rear end sits (way to high)
if you follow the instructions it will look off
there is a little tutorial on here somewhere on how to fix that
Oh, I'm well read on the model, even if I haven't built one before. I know the model has its ride height based off an unloaded real-world example, giving it that sloped stance. All the same, as I won't be adding a trailer to it, one could argue that the ride stance is spot on.

Just carry an air bubble and a fix-a-flat kit and you are good to go... but it may not matter ![]()

Starting point. Still shrink wrapped. I've never seen the actual kit, just photos and its box.
i will tell you doors will need bending and shaving around the upper door window frame. chassis has lots of detail but motor is something to be desired. my advice is to find a better motor for this kit

Hi guys
Some great stories here. I haven't actually started on my Mustang yet, but I have done some research -
In the early eighties I made my first trip to the US from my home in England, mainly to attend the US Nationals at Indy. We flew with PanAm, and you younger guys may not appreciate this, but there was no entertainment in the seat backs
- you could only watch the movie they were showing on the screen in each compartment.
You guessed it, the movie on the outbound flight was Cannonball Run! I haven't seen it since those days so thought I had better watch it again on YouTube - great fun.
As a result, I intend to enter a second car, the McLaren MP4-12C:

Hey
Found a little time to mess around a little with my TA, and found some of the parts to use for it.
Just as a little teaser i made a few mock up pictures

These mods should give the neccesary speed and handling.
Now i will work on the mods for the body to modernize it a bit.
Thanks for looking
Cheers

Better motor? Of course! This is a Cannonball run after all! No point in entering a stocker!
