[futurattraction]

Hi,

 

I wanted to formally announce that my website www.futurattraction.com is now operational.  I offer mostly 70s-80s vintage drag race-inspired parts, with an emphasis on Ford- and Fairmont-related stuff.  Much of what I offer comes in multi-media packages that include resin, photo etch, aluminum and stainless tubing and a few aftermarket parts, such as RB Motion rod ends and MAD pre-wired distributor caps.  I've also started expanding into the area of larger scale drag parts.  I do most of my own small parts casting and product development, however I do have Ed Fluck cast my pro stock Fairmont body and related parts.  If you ever need any casting done, I can't recommend a better person than Ed...

 

As with many modelers, this is a part-time venture for me, since I still have a 40-hour a week job, so my time is more limited than I’d like.  I've got some interesting projects in the works.  Take a look!

Hi Scott,

  It's great to see you are starting a site.  I do like the Smooth-On products.  I personally moved away from using the 300.  They have a resin called task 8.  This resin cures harder than the 300 and will withstand a good amount of heat.  It will become chemical proof as well.  People building models and traveling to contests will appreciate this resin.  I have made bodies out of the 300 that warped from just setting on the shelf.  Really hot water will make it easy to change shape.  I would be happy to send you a sample that you can try and you can do your own comparison.  I made a tool for my job out of it and it sets in a Dodge Caravan most of the day.  I picked it up after it was first made and set in the van in the hot Arizona heat and it did not flex one bit when I gave it a good squeeze.

Joe - Thanks for the kind words, bud!  I am in the latter stages of getting a stock body version ready to go.  At the speed I work and wish all the other irons in the fire I've got going, I'm hoping it won't be more than a couple more weeks before I have the basic body ready to go.  All the major work is done on it.  It's mostly finishing up a few surface imperfections and getting the finish on the body as close to perfect as I can.  The bumpers need some work and I'm trying to figure out how I can make it so they attach where they should.  I'll still have the interior sides and extending a floorpan to do, but first things first...

 

John - my plan all along has been that my stock body Fairmont would use the AMT/Ertle Fox Mustang as the donor but with Revell's announcement about their coupe and the greater detail that Revell's offerings typically have, I might have to rethink that.  The coupe might make a better floorpan donor since the coupes actually have a trunk, of sorts, unlike the hatchback cars.

Thanks Greg.  I appreciate your input.  I'll have to consider the TASK 8 when I need to reorder.  As you saw in my intro paragraph, Ed Fluck does my body casting and I know he has been using Vagabond resin.  I know that resin is somewhat more rigid than what I currently use.  I'm going to send Ed my pro stock pan and see how he gets along casting it.  The ones I've cast with 300 have been a bit more flex-y than I'd really like...

 

If you don't mind sending me a sample, that would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks again!

Thank Karl.  Praise Him.  John 3:16 is my life verse.  In the case of PE, I should be able to post an image of the drawing.  Is there anything in particular you are curious about what it looks like?  I'd be happy to do what I can to let people know.  I don't have too many trade secrets - maybe only one or two... LOL

Thanks for your kind words, Gabriel. I don't have a timeline on the Centerlines at this moment. There are several more pressing projects I'm working on that require more fab work, i.e., stock Fairmont body and the 15" SuperTrick wheels, plus trying to finish up about three orders' worth of PE drawings. I'll try to post updates on the products page as parts come on-line or if I've got a significant announcement about something new and different. Thanks for your interest!

Looking good Scott, good luck with your new venture. By the way your kitty cat looks like she was spoiled, I know it's hard not to spoil them being a pet parent myself. I've lost many myself but the memories will always be close to our hearts.

I remember in 2006 when you started to work on getting that body ready, and I'm thrilled to see you're finally going live. As soon as the stock body is ready and I have a little extra money, I can promise you will have at least one more sale. You will have the stock interior for that as well, I hope?

 

As a couple of suggestions for additional products- some stock wheelcovers for that Futura would be nice, or the cast-aluminum wheels (which I always thought were very nice-looking, too), and a period-correct intake/VV carb/C-whatever goes behind a 302 for that would be a nice offering. Barring that, I'll probably order one of Ken Kitchen's 200/C-whatever it is.

 

If you really want to get tounges wagging- how about a Fairmont wagon? A lot of my friends had those when I was a kid and they bring back fond memories, as do the Fox-bodied LTD/Marquis (perhaps another product for down the road)?

 

The products look great. You have worked for, earned the right to, and I sincerely hope, will have a great deal of success. Perhaps enough to make this your full-time job. Just remember the downfall of a lot of aftermarket providers- lack of communication. If you hit a delay, let people know immediately, even if only a few days. Over-communication is better than none.
