Thanks both Steve and Glu. Appreciate the comments. I'm planning to get some serious benchtime in this weekend and hoping to get the chassis in paint. You're right Glu, this needs a bit of cleaning up.

Nice work on the Jeep.
I have some toy wheels like those. I used to drive the Garden State Parkway in NJ to work. Sometimes it would be 2 hrs in stop and go traffic to get home. I had a car pool mate and we'd occupy our time by cataloging the garbage in the left shoulder up against the road divider. Everything would show up there, from baseball caps to dead animals to exhaust and car parts to pee bottles. One day I spied a toy 4x4 chassis. The first day I just looked at it. On the second day we talked about it and devised our plan to get it. On the third day we remembered where it was and made sure I could snag it. I drove close to the left shoulder and we saw it coming up. We were in stop and go so we timed the stop so we'd be right there. I had my seat belt off, i veered to the left and opened the door. I saw it under me and grabbed it. We hooted and hollered like kids. It's in my model parts box. I'll have to use it some day.

That's a great story Tom. Thanks for sharing. I think after all of that planning and scheming to get it and rescue it from certain demise, you should plan a build with those wheel and tire combos.

Finally got some pictures loaded.
Here's the larger of the two yolks with the .013 piano wire and insulation in place.

Here's the crosspiece after getting put together.

And the final two u-joints for the front axles.

Only four more to go. Thankfully, they're not as small as these two.
Thanks for comments and following along.

Brad.... I have been wondering what you have been up and if you were working on anything and now I realize why I haven't seen much of you because I haven't checked in over in this section in a while. Man this build is looking great and glad to see you having some fun. I look forward to more updates on this.

Very nice work so far. The detailing is incredible, I bet this will be cool to follow. Lifted Pickups, Jeeps and other OffRoaders are cool to watch come together, hopefully I'll be building one some day too. ('66 Ford Bronco kit, anyone???

Thanks for checking in Chris and Niko. Been working on making the shocks and have two done. I've taken apart a Bic lighter for the springs and the rest is built from aluminum tubing with the ends flattened, drilled and shaped. I'm also using .030 piano wire for the strut. The spring has tighter and narrower coils on the ends so I get two shocks out of each spring. These will be mounted with Scale Hardware nuts and bolts.
Here's a scan of the parts along with a completed one.

Stay tuned....

Thanks for the kind words Danno and Randy. All four shocks are on the corners and now I need to concentrate on the engine and the rest of the driveline.
Here's a pic of one of the shocks. I made the axle mounts earlier before painting the chassis.

Thanks Chris. Been concentrating on the engine and mostly the alternator and just how and where I want to mount it given the space restrictions of the engine bay. Updates soon.

Thanks buddy. Loving the weather right now too.
Got the alternator mounted up and spliced the belt to the proper length. The alternator fins are PE from a Model Car Garage set as well as the aluminum pulleys.

Thanks for your interest and comments welcomed.
