going for a lived look , body and chassis will be gloss but i want the t to look used and lived did some gold on the inlet manifold weatherd it to give it some depth some chrome , the pipes will get some more paint effects later inside of the pipes painted black

well something went wrong masking the body and a flake of paint came of , in a effort to try and safe it i painted it and hand painted the body with a hand brush and red enamel paint ...........

after painting it without any stripes in the paint i kind of baked it on a radiator in my house








and yes its really done by hand with paint out of tiny enamel jar , i was really amazed with this result
actually could not believe i got it this nice
sure spraying is always nicer but .. look at the close ups









i have to do the entire chassis due to colordifference ... or maybe paint the chassis in like a metal color , grey ????

after all the paint set backs , the body looked decent today .
but since i handpainted it it was slightly wavy , well most people wont notoce but...

so i wet sanded it and polished it with toothpaste , then got some decals on the body and clear coated the whole body

i didnt want to strip the paint because of the fact its made in like 9 sections and got bondo on it

the only thing that looks less now is the windowframe where it hits the body , due to the tickness of the paint
its going to be hard to paint that chrome without destict lines to follow

then did the steeelie centers in black and made the bolts chrome

started the chrome paint







did the window frame with a handbrush , i should have kept it separate and spray painted it and mounted it afterwards
not perfect but i'm happy with the outcome , that was a pretty steady hand paintjob ,, i was glad when i got the lines pretty decent

yes it was to red , maybe i wil do small chrome hubcaps in the center of the steelies to break it some more and get enough variation

here made some better pics with a bit of daylight , everything is more clear on this pics .. still enough work , just a dryfit
luckely the body is super smooth now ... glad i saved it












going to make a inside in the black radiator house and then some real stainless mesh

kept the back plain black




did the seat center white .. not real happy , next time i will make a removable interiour so i can really spray paint it and do more color and matt .. now the issue is that the bench is one with the body wich is a bit weird ...

finally found some good grass stuf to use as wires , i got plenty so i can do the woody also

pro is that its bendable in the shape you like and then i can paint it with a brush

I have a question about the carburetor.. it looks like you forgot to paint it? that grill looks awesome!

work in progress , just the first set up , need to paint that chrome and do a wash , also want to give that more detail still


tonight i cut the one oiece window in half , shortened the width and made a styreen strip on the sides

and made them open up safaristyle , just wanted to add that little extra touch ..

i really dont know if these open up irl ?? anybody knows ?





also removed the white paint on the bench center , really got a great plan for that , more tomorrow
i changed some bucket seats to fit in there , the bench .. you wont know its there after the fitting of the seats .. like said more tomorrow , they are drying atm from paint

got 2 days of work so this morning did a dryfit with the seats , the bucket seats are pretty altered , removed a lot of material and made the back side in shape of the body ..













in comparison to what it supposed to look like lol hahahaha



now to get some detail on the engine , make some dials in the dash

I'm amazed at how you do things backwards. Assembling the chassis and engine as a whole, then painting, and now wiring. Then the body thing, painting then detailing....but youre getting great results. I am still flummoxed at that brush painted body. Keep it up! We all know how much this kits sucks, but your version is pretty darn cool!

thnx !! and well the handbrush paint is def not something i hope to do again in the future ..
glad it worked out

big update and going towards completion >

did some gold / brass bmf on the firewall , added a tank (still rough) , drilled holes for the wires and bend them into shape.
then painted the wires red so they stick out , otherwise you wont see them real good



then used this brass looking sort of spring like ...(dont know what it is tbh)



and bended it into shape and .....



and well for ounce i did modern digital gauges , had these and never wanted to use them but since they fitted perfectly shape wise and layout wise ...

also made a shifter from a styreen base , a bend brass rod and a styreen knob (still needs paint)



then started to weather all the chrome with washes , the idea was to get a used / lived look without it becoming ratty



also did that on the windowframe , its almost dry matt grey and then dry brushed









after cleaning up some area's and using some different tones , it came out a bit like this



atm the headlights are drying , did the lamp houses red ...
