Hmm except for one "blank" box version from the ill-fated Ertl/Racing Champions "The Replica" magazine issue, I don't think there was a retail box that said "Crown Victoria" on it.

Yeah, yeah, I get your point. Were the facts and actual box tops for proof really necessary!??!

I swear I did Google for box top images before I posted that, but yeah, egg, meet face.

Does anyone have a larger scan of the cartoon style box art? This one seems to be the most rare.

I like it.

I've never been much of a builder of replica stock stuff that wasn't Mopar. But the clear roof a has always intrigued me on the 1/1 car. So this one might be in my future .

Anyone have any good pictures of whats IN the kit ?

When I get home tonight I'll take pictures of the contents. I have a later-issue Walmart 3-pack that has slightly different box art than what's been posted; the background is blueish.

Even though I already have the version with the blue and white model on the box, I'm still gonna get another one of these! I'll probably build a box art version out of it or something very similar.

I guess I was mistaken about the box art; there is blue on the box but it has a city skyline behind it. Forgive the lighting; didn't have the best setup at the kitchen table. :)

And finally, the decals. Pretty simple in this issue.

Don't know what they could add new - an additional clear sprue done in green to make doing the glass top easier? Maybe some smaller skinnier tires for the 12 spokes (if we're lucky they'd narrow the wheels to look more like the real deal). A combination of elements from both the "Strip Fowl" and "Haulin' Henry" decal sheets would be cool, too. Sure we'll get pad-printed tires like everything they've been doing lately. But since this is one of the few AMT kits that never had any parts blocked off the runners it'd be hard to add something it never had.

This is a nice kit to have back; I'll be grabbing at least one or two of these for resin conversions- Resin Realm has some nice 1955-56 Ford bodies to use for this kit.

Same decals as in the "Replica" issue, in case anyone was wondering.

Ok, so at least one kit was missing a steelie.   So 99.999% of the kits had all the parts...

Looking at Chris' pic above, it looks like the missing wheel on my chrome sprue is the second steel wheel. Did AMT sacrifice one half of a 12-spoke at some point? I bought the early '90s era kit, and I know it had all four 12-spoke pieces, as they were in my parts box for years, deemed too wide to look realistic on anything.  :(

There is a second, smaller chrome tree. I think the other spoke rim is on that one.

Yup.  The missing wheel is the other steelie. The other half of the 12 spoke is on the little chrome tree.
