Well I wont have the first Ferrari 599 GTO built here but it will be the first green one. I love this car and I love this color

all i have now is the first primer coat and some issues to point out.
the kit looks great. it has almost 100 peices and is well designed.

first there was some long mold lines that ran down the fenders all the way back to the rear 1/4's and down to the bumpers.
second the kit has some serious sink marks here

and on both sides here

i will putty them after i sleep and get back withthe pre pAint pics

im using alclad white primer and testors model master sublime green paint

Looks like a very nice kit.  Like what you have done so far.  It should look really cool in Green.

AWESOME, loved the lime green as well and glad to see someone NOT doing red on this car, if i could afford a real one i think i would have mine done this color to stand out in the crowd! Great start, be checking back to see this one done.

Yeah. It is the revell germany kit

Let me start this off by saying this build is a train wreck Out of the gate. The chassis in in the pond and i think the body is heading that way.


I got a few fish eyes in the re-paint after i had to sand out some trash.
Now i have to sand out that. Errrrrrrgh. Add to that i hate enamel paints. It takes 3 days in the dehydrator before i can even sand. I think im about to give up on them.

Also. This is some valuable info on this kit
1. The hood is a tight fit. If you lay paint on thick, it will not fit
2. Same thing with the rear c post. If you paint the car body and the post, it wont fit

I was able to get the fish eyes out and spriad Down some testors goss clear coat.

The gray strip that came with the kit is not dark enough.

Got this one off ebay. I love ebay.
I may have to paint the top black. This green color will quickly over power a build. That goes for 1:1's too

I don't know if I'd paint the top black. I like it as is. Besides, with the windshield frame and mouldings around the side windows painted black it may be enough. That is, I assume the side windows have black mouldings around them? Also the headlights and taillights will help break up all of the green with a bit of contrast. I like the grey stripe.

I already ripped the gray one off with scotch tape. I did not it to melt into the paint so i could not get it off when those decals come in
By then i should have all tha black added.

The green is a nice change. My kit did not have those sink marks fortunately. Looking forward to more of your progress.

Man, that color looks good on this! I kind of liked the grey stripe myself, but the black will look good on it for sure!

I went with gloss black tamyia x1, simigloss black X18 and flowquil grimmy black

And in classic form, i lost the radio face plate. Im going to try and make one.

I decided that i needed to cut the coil packs off and run some wires

It was a lot harder than i thought

These things agravated me to death. Good news was there were 6 on each head not the normal 4


I added some MAF sensor wires too

Aw, I was loving that grey stripe, but it's definitely too light.

 

Also, thanks for pointing out those dents in the body, now I understand why I see patches of putty all over WIPs (new guy here haha)
