This will be a very nice build.  What silver will you be using under the Mica Red?

Thanks, John. Tamiya Silver Leaf under the red. The spoon in the first post was my paint test.

That tranny!!! It looks like the turbine in the Batmobile!

Thanks for posting this, I've always wondered what the Vette looked like from SMP. It's not too bad... I have seen worse.

Here she is with Mica Red over the Silver Leaf. Looks good enough to proceed to Phase II. Word to the wise: Uncleared Tamiya Silver Leaf does not particularly like masking tape! VettePaint1-vi.jpgVettePaint2-vi.jpgVettePaint3-vi.jpgVettePaint4-vi.jpg

That looks good, John. For curiosity, what masking tape did you use? Some seem to be a bit more aggressive than others, and as we all know, some paints are far more fragile than others.

Beautiful paint John. A neat, precise build of a simple antique that shows  your considerable skills as a builder.

Beautiful paint. I love the tone of that red over the Silver leaf. I painted an 06 Mustang in Tamiya Mica blue years ago. I have some Silver leaf too. I may have to do a spoon test to see what the Mica blue looks like over the Silver leaf. Looks like I may have found my Candy blue for the accent color of my 41 Chevy lowrider pickup.

Can't wait to see this one finished...it's gonna be hot! I had no idea there was such a fine looking Corvette hiding in that SMP kit. It really is a hidden honey.

What are you using for the white?  Looks like you got good coverage over the red. I dig these Watson style paint jobs so much! I'll be trying my first one soon on a 62 T-Bird.

Yes, I also want to know what you used for the white to get it to cover the red so well.

Thanks for the comments, guys! With way too many projects started, I'm really trying to see this one through to completion soon in spite of some setbacks.

Marshall, the windshield frame and all the molding around the cockpit will be foiled.

Brett and Tom, the white is a mix of Tamiya Pearl White and Racing White. Unfortunately I ran out of the Pearl White so there's really not enough in the mix to be apparent.
