I bought a 1982 El Camino promo on ebay for about $21 including shipping . A bit high but it was the only thing I could find .

What year are you trying to recreate? 78-82 front ends are similar, headlight treatment being different for the 82.

Anything not SS really, earlier the better but I'm not picky... Through some searching for a completely unrelated project I found this:

Looks like they have just what I was looking for! Going to ask first them first but I'm imagining one or the other of them can be adapted to the MPC SS kit.

1978 thru '81 had single headlamps and the MPC kits are readily available .
1982 - Up had the dual headlamps and the only kit available is the SS version .

MPC did do the '82 dual headlamp chrome bumper front end style....in kit and promo form..they pop up occasionally on eBay.

If you are looking for an 81 El Camino, it would be easier to locate an existing kit than to try an convert that SS front end to a stock 81.

79 to 82 were done by MPC as promo and kit. Even a GMC Diablo was available. The promos go for around $20 each on the bay, kits similar.
