Personally I think it's pretty cool. Now if she can keep her cool and not wreck.

She made history today,  she is the first women to win the pole for the Great American Race,  but winning does mean anything, its all about where you finish,  as much as I hate the Danica hype, this is good for NASCAR

Blah......she's a mid field driver that gets WAY too much attention for her talent. This from  someone that was a fan......Tiered of hearing about it already.

First female to win a NASCAR pole anywhere if I'm not mistaken?  NASCAR couldn't have scripted it any better.  Now if she can last more than 2 laps in the race....

I am to too be honest, I guess I am keeping myself in dont post anything negative from over at Randys forum ,   the hype over her is what has turned my off of her,  she is a mid pack driver, and always be that way, but if you listen to the media, she is going to win the championship , and is the greatest evervomit-smiley-020.gif

I heard the news in the car a little while ago. Not a fan of NASCAR or Danica... but it is pretty cool. Congratulations to her.

Now if she could only actually win a race!

I'm a big Danica fan (mostly because she's HOT :D ) and I'm glad to see she got the pole BUT there is no way on God's green earth that any of those other guys are ever going to let her win that race or pretty much ANY race for that matter. My bet is they will have her in the pits before the halfway mark.

Surely you're not suggesting any sort of underhanded conspiracy?   :P  ;)

BTW... I agree she's a cutie.  :D  Better looking than the rest of the Jimmy Joes and the Billy Bobs in those NASCAR races!

Not a NASCAR fan, but...I can still comment.

She doesn't get attention because of her talent. She gets attention because she is an attractive female in a male dominated, well, for lack of a better term, "sport". Now, if you're going to make money off of anything race related, is it better to promote a average looking guy or an attractive woman? If your selling to race watchers, it's always going to be the woman. It sells. So, talent aside...

Congrats on the pole position, though.

Well it depends,  I wouldn't be surprised if her car was not legal and NASCAR let it go,  but of course no one is going to let her win, just like the male drivers are not going to let any other male driver win

I don't know how you "put talent aside" when the person in question wins the pole position. I'd say her talent is right in front, and doesn't have a lot to do with just attracting attention through commercial promotion. Finally, she has a good car that probably won't break. But, of course, I'l be rooting for my hometown Knoxville boy, Trevor Bayne, to win again.

Back in the Smokey Yunick days, nobody's car was "legal."

That's when NASCAR was still fun and interesting... when the individual teams were trying to out-do each other and cheating every which way they could think of. Now it's all just watered-down, homogenized "parity." Yawn...

I am not taking anything away from Danica's pole, but a monkey could drive a car at Daytona and win or win the pole,  plate race's are about the car not the driver.

I'm a big fan and user of GoDaddy products, but this Danica thing is all hype.

For a Brunette she is mighty dry and lacking in personality.

I would hate to see her racing in the top 5 cars because I don't think she has the ability to do anything but cause a wreck at speeds higher than her limitations.

I would not doubt one bit that this Pole Position thing is phony just to sell tickets and commercial time.

There are no sports anymore, only big businesses, too big to fail.

Slow humans are coming to the realization that all these supposed Heroes in sports are not what they poromote themselves to be.

Where are the Jim Thorpe's of today????????????????

I'm just guessing that more than a few (male) NASCAR fans started drooling when hearing the name Danica and the word "pole" in the same sentence.

I must say my seat on turn 4 at last years Phoenix NASCAR race was a great vantage point to see her hit the wall, burst into flames ( we're talking a real Russian style meteor fireball here, bright orange flames) careening down the straight taking out eight other cars at the finish. A real class act. :o

I think it is pretty cool. Stewart Haas has 3 cars in the top 5, so they got something right! 500 miles is a huge equalizer. I'd love to see the #21 car in victory lane again. Trevor has talent.
