Looking for non-Ford, Ford C series trucks

Mack used the same cab built by Budd for the Mack N from 60-64 or so.
Mercury of Canada sold the Ford C under the Mercury name until 1968, I beleive they called it the M series.
I'm looking for reference photos that will give me a good idea of the different trim used to make the Ford into a Mack or Mercury. From what I've seen it is primarily just the door trim and replacing the Ford with the appropriate company name, but I need to see examples of what the various trim bits looked like. I know the Mack continued to use the quad headlights after Ford went back to single headlights.
Any help is appreciated, Thanks

As I recall the cab was built by BUDD and trimmed out manufacture specific.Do a Googe Image search for Budd COE. PaulI've found examples of the Ford C series showing the minor changes between 1957 and the end of production in 1990, but haven't had much luck on the two oddities of the truck.

This is exactly what I was looking for, I now have examples of the 5 variations of Fords over the years, the Mercury, the Mack and even FWD which I didn't know about. So unless someone finds something else unusual I think that covers the options for the Budd cab.

How about actually naming the thread in that section, so I don't have to look through ten pages of threads. Please! There is a few good pictures of a MACK N in the HOW DO I section at http://pete389.probo...4.com/index.cgi

Aaron,
A few years ago I took a series of pictures of one of those FWDs with the Budd cab. I just found the negatives recently, and plan to take them in and get them transferred to digital media. Give me a few days, and I can share those with you if you're interested.

Definately interested, I know a guy who is really into FWD trucks, even has a few. I asked him about the Budd Cab FWD and he didn't know anything about them. He asked a guy he knows who has written books about FWD trucks and he knew very little about them.

I have one more C 900 kit that I'm thinking of converting to a FWD.
What kind of engins did FWD use?
I'm picking away on a Mack N conversion.I have some great under hood pics if anyone's interested.
Maybe I'll get one more for a FORD H.

First the FWD's, they were available with diesel or gas motors, the diesels were the Detroit Diesel 3-71, 4-71, and Cummins JT-6B. The gas motors came from IH and included the BD-264, RD-406, and RD-501.
The truck came in a variety of weight classes from 20,000lbs to 36,000lbs GVW.
Looking at the photos on the spec sheet vs photos of trucks in use I'm guessing there was quite a bit of customization. The basic truck looks like a lifted Ford with a different taller grill, and partially closed off wheel wells, while most of the photos of trucks I've seen end up with the headlights down by the bumper and either warning lights or blanking plates in place of the headlights.
I also ran across some info that Walter used a highly modified version of the cab for some of their crash trucks.
It appears FWD used a licensed Ford cab, while Mack and Walter only purchased partial cabs from Budd and completed them with their own components.
So that brings the total number who used the Budd built cab up to 5, Ford, Mercury, FWD, Mack, and Walter.

Thibault in Canada used the Budd cab to build their AWIT line of fire trucks.
Thanks, that cab really got around.
