I think because the original styrene fastbacks can still be had at reasonable prices, it doesn't behoove a caster to repop them. I picked up an almost perfect one at a model car show last year for $19 and plan on cutting the hood free & kitbashing to create a full detail build.

i had cut up three fastbacks to make the coupe.. only because of the wonderfully brittle johan plastic.

Got any more of the fastbacks hidden away?

Can you use the Model King AMT '72 Torino Stock Car kit for what you have planned?:

Not sure if AMT straight reissued the Johan kit or not, but Johan did a stock car version, too:

The Model King AMT kit should be the old MPC kit. They issued it as the
1#5 Stapac/Sta-Power of Bobby Issac/Buddy Baker. I built one Many years ago.
I do not think the Jo-Han kit still exists.

I bought a resin one about 10 years ago, pretty nice... I can't recall the resin caster, but I got a '71 Dodge Demon from him also IIRC. Scale Coachworks, maybe? But then I snagged a Johan snap kit.

After cutting open the hood one would have the problem of building a correct engine bay and chassis. There is nothing available which is anything near enough that can be used. Ford went back to separate frame for the 72 intermediates, so nothing from the years before would work.

I am doing the Snap conversion... I am using the Stock Car chassis and suspension under the Yellow Snap body... I know this isn't 100% correct for the Stock Street car but it is close enough for me and is a direct drop in...

Could be this one?
The MCRC looks nice, but it's a coupe..this thread is about the fastback body like the Johan kit...
