Total low budget build and lots of new techniques tried for the first time with chrome foil. Tanks, visor, batter box and bumper to make it look more one piece.  Not perfect but acceptible for an old geezer living in hotel rooms all travelling over. Paid $30 for the kit and have less than $50 in it total including tools.  Show winner? No.  But hopefully an inspiration to those out there getting started.

Attached is a factory photo I used for inspiration.  I wanted the reds but had the gold left over from a prior build  and wanted to be a bit radical so green metallic it was. Besides, it was in the discount rack at Hobby Lobby.

Thanks to all who helped me out on the foil venture when this was on the workbench.  I still need FAR more practice, but for a rookie at it, it will work.

It is so nice to be back in this hobby again after a 30 year hiatus.  Thank you all for your encouragement. It means the world.

2 trucks down (this one and the prior Diamond Reo). Now I need to find a GMC General and kick it up a notch on quality and budget.

For those of you in the US, consider putting on a model building class at your local Hobby Lobby or Michaels or Hobby Shop.. I am finding that while all the work is on you to line up "students", they will open up the classrooms to you free of charge.  You can charge a fee to cover your costs and make a make a buck or two.  Disabled vets and some young teens (like Boy Scouts) seem to take interest.

Well that went as planned! Very nice work Jesse. It was nice to assist and encourage you. Just keep it up! You're showing us that this hobby may be practiced almost anywhere! Nice for you to do something you enjoy while you're on the road. Keep at it! By the way, good luck finding a straight GMC General Jesse, a lot of them have cabs that are quite crooked. But if you are lucky enough, it does give nice results. Good luck!

This is a very nice build, especially considering your circumstances.
