I picked up a millennium kit. If it comes out as a Swinger, I'll have to pick up a couple of them. I'd like to

do this one also.

Yes, the new release will be the "70-72 or whatever"  Swinger.

I have one of the millennium series kits and I will be replacing the kit small block with that from an Ertl Duster kit.  Or, I'll use the body and chassis with no engine as part of a diorama, depending on astrological events whenever the time comes to build the kit.  Also, I've got some info about the actual Chrysler "kit cars"; it's a photocopy of the whole catalog/manual with part numbers, detailed drawings, etc. that I obtained may years ago.  I hope to be able to scan and download it one day soon so that I can distribute it to those who would be interested.

Some of you might remember this one I built last year. I used an AMT Kit Kar chassis with an MPC body.

I also built one with a Duster body but Fotki is holding those photos hostage. This is the only one I have for now:

All of the bars and components you see are scratch built from Evergreen rod.

A couple of things that always "troubled" me about the Petty Dart Sportsman Kit car model were:

1).  The 355ci engine molded in the kit seems a little too small; although replacing it's block with the block from the 1/25 AMT/Ertl '71 Duster 340 kit is a good corrective measure.

2).  The front suspension in the kit, (when built per the kit's instructions), seems really, really wide; the front tires on a built-up stick really far out from being underneath the front fenders and are much wider than the rear suspension's set-up.  Does anybody have any ideas as to how to narrow this front suspension to get the front tires underneath the front fenders?

A little off topic but referring to the subject..There is a real one in parts boxes at Swangler Auto Wrecking in Grand Forks ND..The Swanglers raced dirt in the area and Ric ran a Volare. The unbuilt one is a Volare and is still unbuilt in boxes. They also have Bob
Kesolowski's truck. Lots or racing history at their yard...

I still have one of the original kits that was assembled except for the body the came with a broken front fender, I got hold of one of the rear engined Funny Car kits, & was either going to just modify that body, or use the front fender for the missing part. But you can bet that I will be getting a couple of these when they hit the shelves, I still have two of the "Cushman" style kits, one in the Millennium box, & one from Walmart, going through the "box" I found a set of instructions for one of the "Scamp" kits that I didn't even remember getting,,, guess it's true, I'm officially getting old.

I know I'm late getting to this subject, but does the petty dart kit have stock grille and rear bumper setup?  I'd really love to convert a 68 dart into a 71.   I had a 71 swinger 318 that was one of my favorite cars I've owned.   Bought it for $600 w 78K miles in '87.   I went to look at a duster sitting beside it.  Duster was 4800 and rusty and 6 cyl.   So bought the dart instead.   Put dog dishes on it, then rally wheels.   Several other projects on it.  Eventually sold it to my college roommate who drove it, rebuilt eng and rear end.   He eventually sold it for what I paid for it to a guy that was going to drag race it.

Anyway, that a long way to ask the first question.

Thanks

Randy

The bumpers are not stock; the rear has covers molded in at the taillight areas, and the front has covered headlamps and mesh detail in the grille area.
