Is it safe to assume your De-Chroming? I just used household bleach for the first time today and it did wonders. Within minutes it was clean of chrome. Purple Power... Not sure about ![]()

Unfortunately, while bleach eats up the chrome plating in no time, it leaves behind the clear undercoat. LA's Totally Awesome degreaser or 91% isopropyl alcohol do take longer, but get the undercoat as well (if one doesn't get it all, the other will).
I also use both of these for stripping paint...the alky on synthetic lacquers, and the LATA on enamels. I did used to use Castrol Super Clean, which I believe is basically the same thing as the Purple Power, and it was good for quite a few rounds.

Some people on hear have said they use it for years. Over and over , just need to strain it through an old shirt or rag once in awhile.

I've never had much luck with Purple Power or whatever generic equivalent, but 91% isopropyl alcohol works wonders...for paint. For chrome I have used Windex (or equivalent) with good results.
