I know we've beat this topic to death, but I'm really intrigued.  I subscribe to Computerworld at work and this came up today.  Just amazing stuff in a seemingly short amount of time!

Wouldn't 3D printing allow for hollow exhaust pipes without having to fabricate them from styrene or aluminum?

A 3D printer is going up to the space station so they can make parts on site.

Not surprised, there was something I saw few years back that they were talking about doing that as the tech improved tothe point it could be used to make things like wrenches.

Not model car related, but I have parts coming that were 3D printed to turn a certain airsoft gun into everyone's favorite cyborg cops weapon of choice.  ;)
