Camper looks good. Surprised we don't see more campers. So cool.

that camper is amazing! holy cow what a beauty..............

thanks Greg & Tom!

i made up curtains for the OH last nite, will make the rest today, then unfotunatly it's at a standstill till usps comes a-knockin'

this is my first camper build, (would have done more if they were out there) and i was surprised about the interest generated. my friend posted a pic of it on his RC site & same thing. i thought maybe one or two fringe people might check it out. somebody somewhere is dropping the ball, i really belive there could be a "limited" market for rv's & accs

Dan, I hope you kept plans/drawings extra parts or whatever for this, as i'm thinking this would look good on one of my shelves, or trucks yet to be built :D

yes, that's a hint....... ;)

as much as I enjoy building, I could never scratch build something like that, so, you need to do a second one......i'll be waiting by my mail box B)

with all my projects on hold waiting for stuff, thought i'd throw together my quad trailer.

todays work. went out & looked at the trailer tonite, the bulkhead (not glued) has to be shortened down a bit. hoping tomorrow to get the fenders made (checkerplate), the siderail on the stake pockets, axle & springs & the side kit.

pretty basic.

[attachment=51449:790_opt.jpg][attachment=51450:794_opt.jpg][attachment=51451:791_opt.jpg][attachment=51452:793_opt.jpg]

hobby shop had no wood siding or planking (sigh, bang head), so more of this homemade decal stuff.

faking the decking with this

Some times that's how it goes for us modelers-Stop and Go.

Wait for parts, fix equipment ect. and find time for our real lives.

When I got ready to start building my trailer the first thing I had to do was spend a few hours repairing my miter box. I like using the Mid West Products plastic miter box

83277_R1_zpsa743c75d.jpg

(found that picture on Google)

I like the plastic boxes better than the metal ones because it's not as bad on the Exacto razor saw blades-but a by product is that over time you'll end up cutting thru the box, so I cut a piece of .080 sheet stock to patch it and it will last another couple of years now (I'm a cheap skate)

Your trailer looks good so far- the wood decals look real too, I wouldn't have known it wasn't real wood if you had not said so.

Have you looked at Wal Mart for die cast quad runners ?

a little motivation Chris!

like your miter box, i just been strait edging & knifing it. should get one.

a little more work on the trailer. still got to put hooks on the chains, a plug & wires & a license plate bracket

[attachment=51533:409_opt.jpg][attachment=51534:1219_opt.jpg]

threw it on the truck, see what it looks like

[attachment=51535:412_opt.jpg][attachment=51536:413_opt.jpg][attachment=51537:1223_opt.jpg]

there! got the stupid flash thing to work

on the plus side the hobby shop finally got my 060 styrene angle so i can trim out the windows on the camper

That is coming out GREAT, Dan

It really looks like your 1:1 camper and quad trailer !

P.S.= I have been looking for some type of quads for you but have not found much so far, most are over sized and toy-like.

Keep up the good work.

Check the toy aisle at Wal Mart or Target, they usually have some stuff that is pretty close. Another place to check is the Model Empire, they often have some small diecast ATVs, bikes etc.

well camper is pretty much done. still need a few more marker lights though

[attachment=53176:1144_opt (1).jpg][attachment=53185:3723_opt.jpg][attachment=53178:1147_opt.jpg][attachment=53179:1149_opt.jpg]

with the int. lights & vents glued to it & white & aluminum paint, the roof panels picked up a bow. if i glue them, they sit down flat & nice, i'm going to try straitening them so i still have full access to the inside. have some "chain", might make tie-downs if i can make them so they come undone. don't want the camper permanently attached to the truck

[attachment=53180:3728_opt.jpg][attachment=53181:3727_opt.jpg]

made up graphics for the trailer. have to fix my truck hitch, somehow forgot to add safety chain hook-up, also need to add trailer plug to it. debating wether to glue trailer sides down. right now their removable, but have gaps, if i glue them, they tighten & square right up. also got the ramps done.

[attachment=53182:3731_opt.jpg][attachment=53183:3729_opt.jpg][attachment=53184:3732_opt.jpg]

our cartop boat is next. quads are a major stumbling block. right now i'm thinking about making my own atv body's & putting them on Hot Wheels chassis's

calling this rv done....

thanks for all the comments & for looking!

WOW!! Just caught up with this thread. Dan - you've done a great job on this combo. Super impressed and quite an undertaking. I've been working off and on (mostly off lately :D) on a vintage camper and still have alot to do yet. Way to stick with it and see it through to the end.

Have you looked through Larry G Scale site? He has different types of things. I picked up a few propane tanks from him.

Looking forward to your next update.

with the weather killing our work, boss took on a job 700 miles away. SURE IS GOOD TO BE BACK HOME!

finally solved my atv problem. my Hot Wheels plan did not pan out, too small, but wife was in Seattle a few days ago & found these New Rays, only had 2 styles though. i think their 1/30something scale, but they will work.

mine & wife's quads are black & hers has a 2-up seat. son's atv is red & white & has a whip flag.

[attachment=54857:021_opt.jpg][attachment=54858:019_opt.jpg]

tried to make them resemble ours somewhat, even though not our style of quads or brands. also finally after a yr or so, got some cab clearance lites for the crew

[attachment=54859:086_opt.jpg][attachment=54860:087_opt.jpg][attachment=54862:089_opt.jpg][attachment=54861:088_opt.jpg]

my pt boat turn cartopper boat did not pan out either. i would have had to section about  1/2" longwise to narrow it down, which i was going to do untill my 9 yr old son who just built his first glue together last month, talked me out of it-he's really starting to take a interest in models despite his video games & quad competeing for his attention-hope for the hobby!

he's built quite a few snap togethers, the bearcat was his first ever glue together, then my pt boat-i notice a huge improvement in just 1 model, much less a GLUE bomb & his flash removal (still needing improvement) is much better. as soon as he finishes up the last few pieces, i'm going to introduce him to spray painting instead of brush. woo-hoo!

(and you can not tell a kid not all military equipment was camaflouged!)

[attachment=54864:096_opt.jpg][attachment=54865:090_opt.jpg][attachment=54866:091_opt.jpg][attachment=54867:095_opt.jpg]

so for a car topper boat i found this for $14. size is perfect, 6 3/4" long & 2 1/4" wide. son already has plans of taking the motor & sticking it on his pt boat

Now that is a really good looking set-up. The quads look to be really close on scale.
