I've decided to do a quick shelf-model build of my Barracuda. This way I have something to display with my car when appropriate and later I can crack open an old annual and do a full-boogie number on it. I need to get back in the saddle with a few quick-builds to get the interest going. That Woody last winter became a project that got rushed for NNL East. Not this year. No rush jobs.....

Here's a resin re-pop of the Hemi under Glass (I had thought it was a promo at first) as it doesn't have vent windows! This will be the first modification.

I've already deepened the panel lines and added the missing seams for the fenders and cowl.

Attached File  Image 1.jpg   62.53KB   2 downloads

Yeah.... no engine on this one. That will come at another time with the eventual full detail build.

Attached File  Image.jpg   55.98KB   2 downloads

Got my L1 Turquoise from MCW, my Drag Radials from Joseph (They look great BTW!) and I have a set of billet dog dish hub caps somewhere.

Now to clean the room.......   <_<

I forgot to mention all the chrome & lenses are on their way (I hope....) from Modelhaus, I have a bombed-out `67 annual built-up I can pirate the interior tub and chassis from.

I also have a few sets of Keith Marks `68 Barracuda graphics. The Formula-S emblems are to die for.....

Wasn't the engine in the back on the Hemi under Glass?

Looking forward to this. A new tool of this body style is badly needed. Even more that the 70.

This will be a really cool project! To me, there's nothing better than a model built after the real thing! Were there different year "HUG's"? I'm thinking the one I have in my stash is an earlier model than the Barracuda in your avatar.

gonna be a nice build, John. will be even better when you detail it all. I have owned mopar since I was 17 (54 now) and never have I built a kit of one. I will be watching. where can I go to see more pictures of the 1:1?

As much as I'd like to tear into a full-detail build, I need the practice to be honest. A quick shelf build will get me back into the air brush and finishing skills. Remember, I've only built a few simple projects after am almost 10 hiatus! I have about a half dozen `68 annuals so I have material to work with. I just don't want to screw it up.

The Hemi under Glass reference is that the body is cast w/o an opening hood and no vent windows. Yes, the original was rear-engined and they ranged from `65 on up to `69, although I have seen a Hot Rod centerfold with a `70 `Cuda wheelstander that just reads "Hemi under Glass" without the Hurst sponsorship on the doors.

And as for the real one, I have some photos in my gallery and a very short video of her at idle in my driveway. But here's 2 shots now:

This will be an interesting project for sure. Your building skills are excellent and that 1:1 car looks great. I can't wait to see how it comes together, doesn't matter if it's Full Detail or not.

I'm waiting on my K-member to be finished to put the new motor in at the moment.

Nice Chevelle! Love those Colonade bodied GM's! Stock eliminator? What's she running? I haven't had the pleasure with mine yet.
