I've always preferred the old promo-based annuals over later releases...including the much-talked-about '70 Cuda.

What we have here is an MPC '67 Mustang.  AMT had the promo contract back then, and their kit was much more accurate looking than the MPC kit...better than the Ertl/AMT new-tool kit too.

I don't know if my MPC '67 is complete (instructions missing), but it doesn't have those oversize headlights in the box....it only has a pair of stock-looking headlights that look much more accurate.

Back in the mid-'60's any model company just had to market a Mustang kit, accurate or not.

That just looks wrong, like someone used a Palmer, or something from a toy,  grille in a different company's kit. The hood edge does not even rest on the grille right.

Mike's right on this, This is an old MPC kit. it came in a blue narrow box. like the early AMT/SMP sized  ones.

It's an Mpc kit indeed, although pretty sure this one came wrapped in a box, like the top one, you can see in the pic...

Craig's right too!  When I was 12 I doubt I would have noticed, although that Stingray is just wrong  !

Yeah, I was passing up Palmer kits by the time I was 9.

For some reason, the box art looked nothing like the model. I wonder why...

In all honesty, I'm impressed it looks that much like the subject matter.

The MPC Mustang 67 and 68 were not that bad. The front end, and especially the grille was wrong, of course. Too round shape and lacks depth. But I admit, the old AMT is best of them all.

Agreed, but, who made that and what kind of quality control department do they have?  A bunch of chimpanzees and monkeys?
