Heres the kit in all its glory!!
Great over all kit can be built in a boreing stock form, or a more agressive looking stance with body kit front pieces the front look sort of resembles something of the dodge omni of the early 80's...... also a rear spoiler
kit has 2 wheel choices can be build with N/A power engine or "Banks" turbo power nice crisp decal sheet
there is quite a bit of flash that needs to be cleaned up, a few sink marks that will require filler to smooth out the body.
from looking at factory ford brochures and the body in the model kit it looks pretty spot on
going to enjoy this kit greatly as i do with any older mpc kit

Man, that yellow EXP is awesome!

The only thing I didn't like about that kit was that one choice of wheel WASN'T those lame 4-dot wheels that were trying to be all Porsche 928. Those are the wheels on the 1/32 cars. I personally associate them only with the EXP, so it was odd that the MPC doesn't have them. The Revell does, though. I need to get one of those Revells... drat.

If you take a look at my link in my previous post, you can see how the "wire" wheels look. They actually make the car look amazingly modern, which says a lot about styling and the effect of accessories!

Congrats on the Wild Breed too. I need an MPC Fox-Stang, darnit... I have two SVOs, a Monogram 89 soft top and a Revell '79 Capri Turbo RS. One more and I'll have an IPMS-rules "collection" (that's 5 of something with a discernible theme).

Have fun with it - there's no sense hoarding old kits - they were meant to be built!

Go for it, Daniel!

I always thought they were kinda neat little cars. Certainly a rare sight here. I remember seeing maybe one or two?

I'll keep an eye open for that one.

Identical kits!! as previously stated in the thread earlier :)
altho there are different decal sheets
the chrome is more intact on the blue kit luckily no tire burn marks on the glass of the blue kit either
oh tinted glass vs clear glass as well :) very cool kit

Awesome!

Congrats on getting a couple of the Blue one! That's an awesome find.

Nice to see the two kits pictured right beside one another, too.

Now, the big question; which one are you going to build first! :)

Number one: that's a pretty cool idea!

Number two: Where the heck are you getting an Escort front clip? They make a model of an Escort?

I personally prefer the bugeyed EXPs/LN7's (What is with those grilles???), but man, this is going to be pretty awesome!

Oh, they're the European Escort!

That's awesome! I've never seen any of those, let alone the 1/32 one. I need that badly to complete my collection of 1/32 whatever-that-platform-is. I have two EXPs and two LN7s, so I need a fifth.

The Revell non-street one would rock.

Keep up the good work on the forgotten cars, man!

I agree, I had an EXP around 87-88, and when the saw the Escort EXP, I could not for the life of me figure out why they did that to it.

They put the escort front end on the EXP to save money and upgrade the styling of the car. I happen to like the EXP no mater how they made it look.

I was going to post that the EXP would have been much cooler and sold better as a convertible, but then I realized that Ford did just that selling it as the Mercury Capri, which was an Aussie assembled Escort.  Another car that I thought was pretty cool but didn't sell all that well here.

yeah i agree  must have   sold  very  poorly stateside   i  very  rarely  see capri 2 seaters that were the   vert's

i don't understand why   mercury  division  just  did  not  keep the   foxbody  cousin to  mustang.... i often wonder what  the  mercury  front  end  would have  looked like with the   new  for  87' compound headlight  front end the  mustang had.......  what  would have  become......
