Found one on ebay for 150.00. Thinking about maybe getting this one. Is there any photos of finished kits around here somewhere ? Did a search but came up empty.

Mine was a WIP and Under Glass in 2010 but I can't find it either. It's the cover of MCM issue #156 also.

That write up Casey featured is not a good indicator of the kit. Its value is to see the parts provided in the box. It was built by a very limited-skill modeler and his assumptions and conclusions are predicated on his limitations.

An example is his inability to assemble the plumbing and omitting it but advising that it was unworkable. That's nonsense. Another is his praising the stock suspension which is most toy like and requires scratchbuilding for anywhere near accuracy. His color choices and love of the excess chrome is further away from a representative build.

More recently, Eric Cole has built a magnificent one which buries mine but I can't find that one either.

It also seems "mrknowetall"-does not. No source has been named for his statement.

Here's the thread, but you must have deleted or moved all the photos from where they were originally:

(BTW... I found it by using the "Search" function).

I should have mine arriving tomorrow... $159 on Ebay and free shipping to boot! I've also ordered a set of decals to represent the #1 car. I'm probably not going to go nuts on getting every little detail perfect (and I'm not going to spend a fortune on  the KA detail sets), but I'm going to do what I can (within reason) to do justice to the original. It seems that a lot of these get started and put away by builders who don't have the patience to see a project like this through, and I don't want to fall into that trap.

The kit is discontinued by the manufacturer. Whatever is in the hobby distribution pipeline is all there will be. Gone. Finished.

Don,

What is your source for this information?

This kit is still being shown on their website and is listed their print 2013/ 2014 catalogue

http://www.cybermode...ml#.UTp6iY63nEl

The kit is out of production. Stevens International sent me a notice about 2 weeks back saying that it was going and put it on sale. I picked up 2 (one for me, and one for my shop), and they were gone off of their website the next day as they sold out (75% off MSRP will do that).

The one I brought in for the shop sold about 20mins after I posted it on my website. Hind sight being 20/20, I should have bought a couple more.

My enthusiasm for this kit died when SMS abandoned plans to do a detail set. I would still kill for a detailed kit of the GT40. I remember questioning the price then but i never did when the Enzo came out.

KA Models does a pretty extensive aftermarket set for the kit, worth checking out, if I can find one cheap enough (when it first came out it was about the same price as the kit), I may contemplate picking one up.

Now Trumpeter needs to do the other car that was on the box are with the GT40 in 1/12!!!
