1961 Ford Galaxie Styline Kit

10 September 2012 - 05:28 PM

Wanted to try to do a quick custom so chose this kit to play with. Started with the skirts flipped and moved back and then made the big back bumper. Looked big enough to ask for a Continental spare, so I through one together using some scrap plastic. Here's what I have so far.

I will probably add a little detail or even a frenched license plate to the spare. Having fun with this one.

1940 Ford Sedan Custom

11 April 2012 - 06:01 PM

Yet another work in progress.  Got this from my brother as a build and wanted to do something with it but couldn't think of what, but saw Truscale's post for his 39 Merc sedan w/fade-away fenders and inspiration struck me!

Started by chopping the top about 5 scale inches (5mm).

Took about 1/8" out of the front of the rear section of roof and filled the gap between the front and middle roofs which also allowed the rear roof section to drop down to meet the rest of the roof.

Removed rear window as a section and trimmed a wedge out to allow the window to fit flush.

Top chop completed minus any putty work/sanding.

Fade-aways started.  I used the running boards for the top of them after lengthening them a little and narrowing some.  Trimmed out some styrene for the sides.

Puttied over and smoothed out (first coat).

Rear end needed some rounding off, so I had some blister pack from a computer mouse I had been saving.  Worked like a charm.

Probably should have dipped it in the purple pond, but got antsy to work on it.  Will try to get primer on it once the weather warms up again this weekend.

Thanks for looking.

1941 Plymouth Pickup - 03/07/12 update

26 February 2012 - 03:14 PM

Been trying to figure out what to do with this 41 Plymouth. It's always been one of those love hate relationships. I loved it one day, then hated it the next. Decided to do a search here and see if I could find some inspiration and found some. Thor did a pickup conversion last year that I loved! So I decided to hack my Plymouth apart.

I started by removing the rear fenders.

Then hacked off the trunk.

Needed to then modify the chassis to allow the bed to fit.

More to follow.

1955 Ford Panel

14 February 2012 - 07:07 PM

Digging through some old boxes, came across this one I started a while back. Picked it up already started w/the body painted. Modified the suspension to drop it on these 26" wheels. Also removed the running boards to help the flow of the lines.

Now to decide whether to repaint it. There are some scuffs and other flaws in the paint, but I like the color. Glass is made from blister pack clear plastic as the original was missing.

1949 Ford - update 03/07/12

12 February 2012 - 10:52 AM

While working on my vintage Vette and McLaren, I wanted to do something more out of the box type build w/some mild add-ons.  I always seem to dive too deep and never get a build done, so this one is to keep the itch scratched while chugging away at those other builds that never seem to end...

So here we have what someday I'd love to build in my own garage w/o having to do any major cutting, at least none w/the body.  The stock grille was cut, part that was cut out of the middle filled in at the top and a custom insert was found for the center.

Sorry for the poor pics, my lighting was off as I was in a hurry.
