Just finished this one. Its the Motor City release (and hey, Revell, Motor City is not hyphenated!!!). Really nothing special here. The color is Testors De Ja Blue over white primer. I swapped in a set of Monogram Eagles for rolling stock. I never cared for the hood hinges on these kits, so I made one out of brass rod and tubing. It worked fine and fit perfectly until I got it together and slid the hood onto the hinge for one last time, and now. it doesn't want to close properly (I'll just slide it off the hinge and set it on top for display purposes). I've been experimenting with color and shading. I painted the seats and door panels with a mix of blue and orange and then drybrushed the white over that to bring out the texture and add some shadow to the white.

Today I was adapting a set of Pegasus wheels and XS disc brakes to my '71 Torino. Using different sizes of aluminum tubing I was able to do the deed. However, I fumbled my x-acto and it landed in the top of my foot (I try to be barefoot whenever possible). No prob, clean it up and slap a bandaid on it. A while later while trimming the back of one of the discs I sliced my right thumb. No prob again- clean it up and put a bandaid on it. The chassis is now up on its wheels, and with the car mocked up it looks darn good. However, I might be getting woozy from the blood loss.

Just finished this one. Its the MPC Olds W30, and this has a story to it. It started last year as the Hurst Olds. I had the chassis done and the body almost when the fire hit. Although it was downstairs on my bench, it got damaged. Afew months ago, a friend sold me a sealed W30 for eight bucks. I had the chassis done, so between other projects I did this. The body is a Plasti- Kote color called Cordovan Metallic. Its a bit transluscent, so I shot it over a silver base. I like the way it turned out (mostly). The body trim is a bit soft, so I had a bear of a time with the foil on the upper body moldings.

So I wound up with the Hurst exhaust (I like the Cherry Bombs). The wheels are from the Model King '71 Thunderbird and the tires are from the kit, only because I'm out of those nice AMT Eagles. This was an OK kit with a few gripes. The location of some pieces is best described as 'vague', and the shell interior falls flat on what is otherwise a relatively nice kit.

After seeing several Talledegas here, I decided to do one of my own.This is the Revell Muscle release, which has some nice custom stripes. I didn't want to do it completely stock, as you're only limited to three colors, all with a black hood and cowl. About a hundred years ago, back in the mid- seventies, I had a red Torino GT fastback with black stripes and interior. I had some red kicking around (Dupli- Color GM Victory Red, the color of my 1:1 Grand Prix). I shot it over red primer and eschewed the clear coat. The only body mods were adding several panel lines (catwalk to fender, cowl to fender, fender to rocker and rocker to quarter panel). I made my own poseable steering and used the tires, wheel backs and brake decals from Revell's '50 Ford pickup and the custom wheels from the '72 Cutlass.





I also made some exhaust pipes out of aluminum tubing. The underhood is stock except for a scratchbuilt distributor I made out of four sizes of telescoping aluminum tubing. The interior is box stock save for the flocking. This was a really enjoyable build, and I knocked it out in a little over a week.
