'55 Ford Country Squire 'Woody'

09 February 2012 - 11:45 AM

FIRST LOOK!.....

Building this for my Dad, as a Father's Day gift.  Dad has a real one back in '62, and I have a pic of my Mom sitting in the driver's seat......I'll frame a reprint of the pic, and include the model.  Ssssshhhhhhh!  Nobody tell.....it's a surprise!   ;)

JUST sprayed the Tamiya Black basecoat.  Once that's cured and shrunk back a bit, I'll spray the 2-part clear......followed by woodgraining ,etc.

Meanwhile, I'll locate that pic of Dad's 1:1, and post it.

'66 Olds 442 - Paint done

09 February 2012 - 05:29 AM

This is my SECOND attempt at painting the '66 Olds 442.  The first body is soaking in brake fluid as we speak, following a clearcoat mishap.

Basecoat is Pure Ice "All Nighter" nail polish ($2 @ Wal-Mart), and topcoat is Napa/Martin Senour CrossFire 2-part urethane.  I'll be using Testors Black Vinyl Top system for the roof.

Any ideas on wheels and tires??  I may just use the kit supplied Rallys, and a set of redlines, but......??

Thanks for looking!,
Mike

Show Us Your Flat Trackers and Stockers!

27 January 2012 - 03:56 PM

I've got a shelf full of the Model King Stockers that I'd like to get to work on!.....the Monte Carlo, '66 Impala, Laguna, Torino, Cyclone, Malibu, some of the Early Modifieds, etc.,......and I'm looking for inspiration.  Show 'em if you got 'em!!  I'm especially interested in seeing your fictitious racers, but replicas of actual cars are welcome as well!  Here's my Donnie Allison 'North Ga. Oil Co.' Monte Carlo.  Definitely not a dead-on accurate replica, just a fun, out-of-the-box build.......

57 Chevy Bel Air - 70's Style

11 December 2011 - 07:07 PM

I built this one in the style of the 'Street Machines' I used to see running around Baltimore Md when I was a young teen in the late 70's.  THOSE are the cars that got me hooked!

Monkeemobile

11 December 2011 - 03:47 PM

I've been wanting to build one of these for quite a while. The body was a bit of a challenge to get right. Mine had a lot of flash, and the nose and tail pans fit poorly.....especially around the headlight buckets and grill openings. I spent more time filling and smoothing the seams and gaps than I did building the dang thing! Once the body was primed, smoothed, and ready for color, I custom-mixed the Candy Red and sprayed it over Tamiya silver. The clear topcoat is 2-part urethane. Tires are from the parts box (the kit tires are too dinky). The kit itself is really simple, and overall, it was a fun build. Best part is, now I have the iconic Monkeemobile in my collection!

Thanks for looking,
Mike
